Tired and overpriced hotel.

jondY4696UT TripAdvisor review

Hotel very tired and needs a refurb. They probably don’t care as you are a captive audience in the ‘resort’. Flies everywhere in the main hotel reception and restaurant area. Food options limited and overpriced. Staff look miserable. Tourism at its worst unfortunately. Only book this if you are desperate to see Ularu.

Dear Jon, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at Sails in the Desert. We acknowledge your comments about the refurbishment. We also understand your concerns regarding the presence of flies in the main hotel reception and restaurant. Please note that, as a resort located in the heart of the desert, the natural environment and weather patterns can influence insect activity, which is different from city-based hotels. While we certainly employ all environmentally friendly methods available to ensure unwanted guests are kept from guest rooms and other areas, it is unfortunately not always possible. Regarding food options and pricing, we strive to provide high-quality ingredients and a variety of choices. Being in a remote desert location, the costs of supply chain transport are significantly higher than hotels in major cities, which affect menu pricing. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope that despite these issues, you were still able to enjoy the unique experience of visiting Uluru. Kind regards, Ayers Rock Resort Team

Hot, Tired and Dissapointed

Arrived exhausted and hot. Found our room after carrying our bags up 3 flights of stairs. Our room was dirty, there was a major moth infestation. Material on lounge was filthy and stained. Carpet was lifting in the corner with bugs crawling underneath. Fly screen was broken allowing insects and moths into room. What a disappointment after Virgin cancelled our flight today from Brisbane to Ayres Rick direct meaning we had to get up at 3am this morning and fly coolingatta to Sydney and then Sydney to Ayres Rock. What is going on? - hugely disappointed and exhausted however Sails have now provided us with a clean room which we appreciate - should have happened to start with . Sort your act out guys.

Dear Scenic, Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely apologise that your room did not meet expectations on arrival and for the inconvenience caused after your long journey. We’re glad our team was able to provide a clean room, and we appreciate your understanding. We take your feedback seriously and will continue to review our maintenance and housekeeping processes to ensure a smoother experience for all guests. We hope you were still able to enjoy the unique beauty of Uluru. Kind regards, Ayers Rock Resort Team

Great hotel but let down by easy fix issues.

We had a terrace room which had great amenities a super comfy king size bed and great air conditioning. The terrace was large with 2 sunbeds, a table and chairs, and rattan lounge pod for 2. Issue however was that it was dirty, the whole terrace needed a good sweep and jetwash. This was reflected in all the outdoor areas. All were untidy and need attention to paintwork and maintenance of general sweeping up of plant debris as this let the hotel down. The pool area was very nice and although unheated this was not an issue as the weather is so hot, the pool is ok and not freezing. Restaurant is expensive but the food selection is top class with high standard quality ingredients on offer and the staff are really nice. Bit disappointed that there were some amenity not available on request that I would have expected from a 5 star hotel. I had forgotten my hair straighteners and I know that’s my own fault, but I’ve stayed in many hotel that are 5 star that have these on request to borrow. There was also no universal plug adapters to borrow which again I have perviously found most 5 star hotels catering for international guests do have. I’d therefore say this is not 5 star but could be with a little more attention to detail.

Dear lyndakou, Thank you, and we are glad you enjoyed your room, terrace, pool, and our restaurant staff. We are sorry that some aspects did not meet your expectations. The natural desert environment where we are located can present some challenges in keeping the terrace always clean; however, we will review this as we always aim to improve. We also strive to provide fair and reasonable pricing for our guests at our restaurant, as the costs of supply chain transport to a remote resort like ours are significantly higher than those of hotels based near major cities. Kind regards, Ayers Rock Resort Team

Rooms was huge and very clean, the staff was very helpful and even checked me in early. All the tour buses come right at the door so no need to go anywhere. You can refill your water bottle at the restaurant in the hotel which was great so I did nto have to buy water bottles

Dear Cheryllom, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay, found the rooms spacious and clean, and appreciated our helpful staff. It’s great to know that our convenient location and amenities, like water bottle refills, enhanced your experience. We look forward to welcoming you back to Ayers Rock Resort in the future.
