Absolutely brilliant. One of the best hotels we have used. The main building is a converted church, with bedromms in a modern wing. If rich, some bedrooms are in the chapel loft! Totally clean. Very helpful staff. There is a lift, but entry involves a few steps - sp they come out to help Location excellent, once up the hill from station (there are buses) - all central attractions and many restaurants very close.

The hotel was in a beautiful historical building. Rooms were clean but spartan. There’s a lot more that could be done to make it a much more interesting space but it’s decidedly very average . Receptionists and cleaning crew were very friendly , efficient and welcoming . Breakfast, which was included in the rate , was average at best. Biggest disappointment was the person who was hosting breakfast on June 24. She had a scowl , practically ordered me to a small table in the corner when there were many available . I eventually asked for a table in a brighter spot . I had trouble getting hot water for tea - she practically gripped my arm and pushed me out of the way. I mentioned this as I was checking out and Apparantly her behavior is well known. .she was the only person in charge of the breakfast area and apart from hosting , had to clear dishes etc ., the hotel seems to be skimping on cost. Brightest spot was the restaurant next door - les archives - amazing food , gid value and very friendly staff who were so welcoming of a solo female traveler . I’ll never go back o the mercure Poitiers

Mold in the room.. very basic rooms

There is no airflow in the room.. trying to save energy. After showering, it gets very humid, and mold forms all over the window sill. No one seems to bother. The rooms are very basic decor wise. Like a motel. And then there no doors but curtains for the closet.

Pretty good. Just little issues

Met all our needs. Comfortable room, adequate storage. good choice for breakfast. Quiet and near enough to the town centre to walk there. Little issues- shower had to be hand-held to prevent flooding the bathroom and there was nowhere to put shampoo or to hang a towel. Overall, though, I would happily recommend.

Located on the edge of the main center of town, the parking lot is 200 meters away. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a not very friendly young woman who recited her spiel as if she had already done it numerous times that day. I asked her how late the restaurant was open and she never mentioned having to reserve. Upon arrival at the restaurant, the rather snotty maitre d' asked me if I had reserved! They could maybe coordinate. The room I was in was very basic, with 2 single beds and no coffee/tea making facilities. Most annoying was the fact that the shower door did not close properly so water spilled out onto the floor.
