Lovely hotel in lovely grounds. We had a large room. Furniture is a little dated and we didn’t have a walk in shower, but otherwise it was great. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant and the food was excellent. Ample free parking was a bonus as well.

We enjoyed an overnight stay in York & found this hotel to be a great spot for exploring. Just outside York it’s easy parking & lovely grounds for walking our dog. Room was lovely & found the staff ( Laura) to be very friendly and helpful & have no doubt we will be back again soon..

Stay spoilt by disturbed sleep from noisy generator

We stopped at Fairfield Manor for one night in Aug 24 using a gift of a Virgin Experience voucher. Outside grounds , exterior and lobby/bar area are very nice. Allocated room 224 on 1st floor. Room as expected, no issues on arrival. We had drinks in the bar and a very nice meal in the restaurant. Service from all staff very good. On going back to the room to go to sleep I became aware of a noise from the immediate exterior of the room which I now know to be from a large unit just down from our room at the rear of the hotel which houses the hotels air conditioning unit. We closed the window, but the noise was still too great to get to sleep. If we had been stopping more than 1 night I would have asked to be moved. I am not a light sleeper. I get to sleep very easily, but it was impossible with the noise from the generator. Thankfully I found some ear buds and managed to get some sleep with those in. During the day the noise from the generator is masked by other daytime noise, but on a night it is immediately noticeable and very loud. Strangely, whilst the air con in the communal areas of the hotel works very well, there was no air con in our room, meaning that by having to close the window, the room became very warm. A portable fan was in the room. Breakfast next day was buffet and very nice. We enjoyed all aspects of our stay other than a good nights sleep which is the most important factor for me in any stay. I would strongly advise anyone using this hotel not to take a room at the back of the hotel. Our room was 224 and on a corridor of 220 -226 at the back of the hotel. 226 is the room immediately next to the generator, and the same will be the case for any rooms at the back of the hotel on ground or 2nd floor. Reading other reviews now I have returned I can now see that at least one other visitor has had this problem. Nice stay spoilt by lack of sleep. I am also sceptical that our placement in this room was due to us using a voucher.

If you are uncomfortable to get on to a bath to shower or are old or injured, pls do not go to this hotel!

Pls do not go to this hotel. Dirty. Poorly furbished rooms and broken toilets. Staff are really not that kind as well. Only decent part is perhaps the breakfast. We booked a two night stay at this hotel through agoda and we were told that there would be a bathtub and a shower but this hotel apparently only has 2 accessible rooms and a few privilige rooms which have a separate tub and shower area. My husband has a leg injury which does not allow him to get up onto the tub and we raised it to the hotel. Hotel attendant first mentioned that they do not have rooms for day 1 but would give another room for day 2 and later said no to a room with a shower on day 2 and told us that a refund will be offerred for day 2 so we could find another hotel. No compensation was offerred for poor service on day 1 and husband could not shower as a result. Happy to kick out hotel guests! If you are old, pls dont go here. Everything is old. Bed is crappy. Curtains are old. Poor service.

Good hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, We stayed for 11 days, The breakfast was the same every day so became boring. Ate at the bar on one occasion, waited an hour for the food, bar staff said the kitchen was very busy, which really wasn't my problem.
