The staff are so incredibly polite and helpful…. The room large and spacious although a little tired. The furniture dated and didn’t quite match.. the breakfast was ok. Buffet type with everything to hand. There was a reunion event which was noisy. But you know what? Anyone that has fought for queen/king and country, go for it. You deserve it! 10/15 mins walk to the next pub and a wee bit further to the park and ride… will stay again lovely time …

We stayed for 2 nights. Our only complaint is that we could not extend for another night as they were fully booked (that really tells you all you need to know) despite the front desk staff watching consistently for a cancellation for us. Sadly there was none. The hotel is set in spacious grounds, plenty of parking space and a very efficient Park and Ride to York just down the road. Our room was spacious and quiet, the bed was luxurious-better than our bed at home, (but don't tell the wife or she will want a new one). Everything clean and working properly. Yes, some of the pieces of furniture are a little tired, but not really a problem. Breakfast was just what it should be, the hot buffet continually refreshed so nothing was dried out. Excellent cold collation, everything there that you could want. Oh and this hotel has the only hotel toaster that we have found where the bread has come out toasted on the first pass. You usually have to put it in and come back the next morning!!! A very refreshing stay, thank you all at the Mercure.

Enjoyed staying here at this hotel, very clean in the hotel room and breakfast was lovely, the staff are really friendly would recommend this hotel and comfortable bed to sleep no disturb would definitely come back soon it'd lovely view aswell. 😊

We arrived Saturday afternoon having booked with booking. Com only to find there was a mistake with the booking confirmation DESHPAL was on reception & was very poite & helpful he couldn't do enough for us he managed to get us a fantastic family room which we were very grateful breakfast was excellent as well. all the staff were brilliant, I would highly recommend this hotel once again thank you Deshpal 😊

We stayed for three nights to enjoy York. Our room 312 was very spacious and comfortable. The decor & furniture were dated, but in keeping with the age of the grand building AND we thought it was all very CLEAN! I was delighted to have a bath in our ensuite room. The water was piping hot, plenty of toiletries and lovely soft towels and dressing gowns (although missing a belt on one lol) The breakfast menu was full and varied. The cooked breakfasts were fabulous. On the Saturday morning the hash browns were not so crispy (but that's my personal choice) Monday morning, all cooked breakfasts were cooked to order and were delicious and presented beautifully. It was lovely to have real orange juice and lots of fresh fruits & nuts to eat with the yogurt or cereals. What a treat to have marmite on my toast & choice of fruit compote for the yogurts. There was also pastries such as croissants and Danishes. No reason to go hungry. I noticed there were vegan options too! We didn't eat in the evenings (as we were out and about!) so cannot on the dining menu. The staff we came into contact with on reception and in the kitchen were both friendly and efficient. The hotel appears to have fair amount of grounds (if the weather had been warm in June, we may have chosen to sit and relax outdoors. The hotel is spacious indoors, with lots of pleasant areas to relax after breakfast or in the bar etc. There were comfy seats placed on the spacious landings. The hotel was cosy and warm in all areas. There was plenty of parking. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring York. The park and ride (we used daily) is just an easy ten minute walk. If we are lucky enough to holiday in the area, we would definitely. rebook! If I was bring picky, the only extra comfort would have been some electrical sockets located near the bed to charge mobile phones and use laptops.
