Is this a Mercure Hotel?

Having stayed at the Mercure Earls Court I was surprised at how dated this hotel was. The room was clean but my bed moved across the room when I got into it. It was either very cold or very hot. So didn’t have a good sleep. I found the staff indifferent and having to pay £12 for a bowl of porridge and a cup of tea was a bit over the top. The food was good but lacked variety. No one was dressed for work everyone just in ordinary clothes. This hotel needs a lot of work to bring it up to Mercure standard

We typically receive very positive feedback regarding the hotel team so it is disappointing that this was not your experience. The front of house team wear a uniform of chinos and denim shirt so understand why you may have felt this represented 'normal' clothes, the intention is that the uniform is comfortable. Basic hotel but good location for Chester Zoo

Good location for us wanting to go to Chester Zoo. 10 mins down the road. Staff were extremely kind, personable, and helpful. Also very hard working. We were given a room which was up a lot of stairs and we found there was no lift. I needed a lift because I struggle with stairs. Reception said they could change our family room to a ground floor room but would be a double and a septerate twin room at no extra cost, this was really kind of them and really appreciated it. The rooms are basic, TV didn’t work and in the morning we found we didn’t have any towels only a bath Matt and hand towel. It was too late to ask for some as we needed to leave for our day at the zoo. We ate in the restaurant and probably wouldn’t do that again as it was quite pricey for an adult meal. Kids meals were good price though and included a main, dessert and a drink for £8. Restaurant staff were lovely but ran ragged. They were working the busy restaurant and the bar at the same time. The restaurant manager was really helpful and a young waitress engaged with the kids lovely. Breakfast was included in our stay but would have cost £17.95 per person and although it was a very varied breakfast it wasn’t the best. Fresh juice and coffee machines available. Other hotel guest were really loud in breakfast - not staffs fault but wasn’t pleasant for others Would only stay again for location proposes as close to what we were attend Chester for. Would order takeaway to be delivered and would eat out for breakfast as well

Dated, Noisy and a Lack of Dining Options

Currently here. First impressions are that this place is dated. Upon checking in I enquired about the restaurant availability. I booked based on the restaurant as I knew I'd be arriving after a long day of work and travel, and would need a good meal. Sadly, Mercure Chester have closed the restaurants to a great deal of paying guests to accommodate a private party. Poor to say the least. Oh, and forget room service! It's well advertised in communal areas, but try and find a menu!I've had to settle for a burger rather than a proper meal, no bother - first world problems. The dated appearance continues into the rooms, particularly the bathrooms. Really old fashioned with the noisiest fan in the world. I'm not hopeful for a good night's sleep owing to the fact that the floors creak like crazy, and every conversation from surrounding rooms can be heard clearly. Finally, don't expect it to be in Chester. It's in Christleton and about 5 miles from the centre. There is a nearby park and ride, but no good if you fancy an evening stroll to the hubbub of the famous medieval city.

Given that your feedback here was written during your stay, perhaps it would have been more advantageous to talk to a member of the team instead? The restaurant was in fact fully booked on the night you stayed rather than closed. There are times through the year when this could happen and we would always recommend booking ahead to avoid such disappointment. I am pleased however, that you were able to dine with us. Thank you for your feedback on location, unless I am mistaken the hotel hasn't moved or indeed suggested that we are closer to the centre of Chester than we are. The hotel is 2 miles from the centre of the city and is easily accessible by the method you suggest. I hope we are able to welcome you back in the future. Regards, Richard & all the team

Stayed here at the weekend and had a great time in your lovely hotel. My room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The cleaning staff were very friendly. The staff at the hotel were excellent, very friendly especially Lucas who was our waiter for the evening in the private room we had for our 50 year reunion. The food was lovely and the breakfast was excellent. It was very convenient for the town being 5 minutes walk to the park and ride.

Incredabbly kind help for 80 year old lady

My 80 year old mum hit a pothole on the way to Chester and spotted a flat tyre when she parked at the Boughton Heath Park & Ride. She contacted me 200 miles away as she did not have a smart phone to call for assistance from her Roadside provider. They estimated a couple of hours to attend so, desperate for the loo and a coffee, she walked up to the Abbot's Well. There she was met with kindness and provided with a complimentary coffee until she returned to her car. In total, she had to wait 4 hours for assistance but she was so pleased to have met kindness from the hotel staff. She has used the hotel previously over the year. but despite not being a customer this time, she received exemplary service
