While we’re glad you appreciated our excellent location and helpful staff, we sincerely apologise that your room did not meet the standards you expected from a four-star hotel. We take your comments about the bathroom condition, heating, and overall comfort very seriously and have already passed them on to our maintenance and housekeeping teams for urgent attention. We regret that your experience was disappointing and hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with the quality stay you deserve.

Not recommended, very poor service

Stayed here for a conference…a brilliant conference (QED). But the hotel… OMG! Really poor service. If you want a drink at the bar, expect to wait 30+ minutes before being served, they are SO inefficient. I watched loads of people wait in a bar queue for 30 mins and then have the shutters pulled down in their faces at 9:15 , refusing to serve any more. And the lifts are also really inefficient…allow 20+ minutes waiting time each way, while the small slow lifts try to transfer 100s of people up and down, in tiny groups. Room included a duvet with pubic hairs on it. Gross! Won’t come here again

Great staff let down by tatty hotel

I stayed here recently for a work event. I wrote a pretty negative review, which the hotel responded to fairly, but I decided on reflection that it was a bit harsh. So here is a rewritten version. Firstly, the rooms. They are very tired. I arrived at the hotel late on Sunday night, and when I was about to go to bed I realised there was a huge stain on my mattress, which was clearly visible through the bedsheet (there was no mattress protector). I asked to be moved and the front desk was helpful, putting me in the room next door. This one did have a mattress protector. Both rooms had chipped and peeling paint in the bathrooms and doors that didn't look like they were going to close properly. There was mould around the shower, and the window was grubby. In the second room, the shower flooded the bathroom every time it was used, and part of the shower controls were broken off (the shower did still work, but it didn't look great and added to the overall impression of rooms being in poor condition. I needed to use the wifi for a work event and it was very poor, kicking me out of calls repeatedly. I ended up using my phone as a hotspot instead. I was in a city view room, and the view was great. However, the room was noisy and you could hear the trams, sirens and traffic constantly. This didn't really bother me as I have earplugs but I can see how it would be annoying. The gym looks quite nice in the website photos but it is very small, with a broken treadmill and grubby equipment. But now for the positives! The staff here are great. Every person that I encountered was really friendly and helpful. My favourites were the people working in the restaurant, who were so friendly and welcoming, in particular the man with glasses at front of house (I think he was in charge) and a lady with a pony tail, who was sometimes at front of house and sometimes working the buffet. Our work event included buffet food at lunch and dinner. I'm not normally a fan of buffet food but I think it was pretty good. We had a good variety of different things and I did enjoy it. They were constantly replenishing food that had run out and it was well-organised. Overall, it's a shame this hotel is so tatty, because the staff are really friendly and welcoming and seem to care about their job. If they could just refurbish the place and give it a bit of love, I think it could be a really good hotel. It's in a great location. I originally gave this hotel 1 star, but I think that's unfair on the staff, so I've changed it to 3 stars. It would be higher if they refurbished the place.
