We usually stay at Ibis in France as we travel a lot each year. This year is different but UK standards are good. This time Mercure was the only one available in Norwich. Can i compare? Staff and facilities were good and Covid cleaning was very good. But single aluminium windows with water covered windows in the morning was not expected and walk in shower is not standard in this hotel. It was still a good stay with very helpful staff. A little out of town but a £7 taxi ride puts you in the centre.

Having stayed in Mercure Brisbane earlier this year, we had no hesitation in booking Mercure Norwich for our recent short break, based on excellent service and accommodation in spite of Covid restrictions. On 3 repeating occasions breakfast was not provided having left a letter each day. And my laundry was lost with no knowledge. And being suggested that my clothing I handed was merely my mistake.

I use the hotel when visiting my son in Norwich and find it convenient. I will be glad when things get back to normal with the bar and restaurant being open, also being able to have a normal breakfast!

We have been staying here for many years now . It is a comfortable hotel and the staff are brilliant. It is starting to look a bit tired but is always very clean and we have a great night's sleep. Their Covid measures are reassuring and we felt very safe .

All we could smell was cigarette smoke and we had our children so I was pretty disgusted. It was a truck stop pit for the night at best. Very tired and run down. Needs a revamp. Staff were accommodating but that’s the only positive I have. It shouldn’t be on the Accor members app. It doesn’t compare to any of the other hotels on there.

I’d love to say that I had a delightful stay - however I never got that far - as after spending 3 minutes inside the Vancouver suite in Norwich my skin was crawling and I immediately checked out. The carpet which was peeling off the floor, the stains in the bath tub and the gnaw marks out of the headboard- I can’t say which one turned my stomach more . As my husband described it felt more like a chapel of rest than a liveable hotel room.

Everything was outlined well - arrows, social distancing measures, signs about wearing face masks. Room was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had to go down to Reception after we got to our room to ask for an extra towel as there was only one, and gown and slippers which the website said would be supplied. The chap on the desk was very apologetic and got them for me. I had to phone down to reception the next morning as the breakfast had not been hung on the door. These were all minor things though, and didn’t affect our stay. We would come again.

The staff were friendly but the room was very tired and dirty. Mould and lifting wallpaper around windows. Strange mark on bathroom door. Hairdryer had dirty thumb mark ground in and in view of covid everything should have been spotless. I cleaned the hairdryer before use and have photos of the dirt.

We chose the best room in your hotel A suite The net curtains and actual curtains both had a significant amount of mould on them. We were unable to therefore stay The positive is that the receptionist/ duty manager was excellent, very apologetic and gave us a full refund.

Staff were nice enough , but hard as far is it goes , I’ve stayed in Mecure hotels a lot and this one does not fit the normal style . It’s an old , dated and very tired hotel . The rooms be some quite stuff with very little natural light or ventilation . It most certainly needs an urgent refurbish

Hotel decor was tired, restaurant and bar closed so had food in our room. Breakfast arrived in a bag outside the door, not much choice, porridge, muffin and juice. Bed very firm so I asked for spare duvet to sleep on.

My husband and I used the hotel as a base to explore Norwich and surrounds by car. Parking was free and always available. There are no lifts and our room required stairs. We were there on a Bed and Breakfast basis; the breakfast being delivered to our room due to COVID restrictions. We knew the room would not be serviced. The breakfast was very poor - porridge (the only cereal option), fruit (no choice) and cheap muffins. If you wished to have tea or coffee with your breakfast, you had to request supplies at the front desk as only one day’s supply was in the room (we stayed for five nights).
