After reading the reviews of this hotel, I was nervous about the stay. We had booked non-refundable reservations so we decided risk it. After our stay, I don't understand the negative reviews. Location: Within steps of Paddington Station (Heathrow Express & Regional Trains) and one block from Paddington Station tube station. Plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Service: We arrived around 8:00 AM and as expected our room was not ready. The front desk staff was helpful in checking our bags will be explored the city When we returned around 3:00PM the room was ready. They offered to help us with our luggage the room. During our stay, we were always greeted upon leaving and returning. Our only request was for restock of the mini-bar (complimentary but limited). They immediately sent someone to our room and it had already been done during the room cleaning. Cleanliness: I did not notice any dirty areas of the hotel. There was some normal wear and tear but would not describe as rundown. Our room was cleaned daily and very satisfied with housekeeping service. Room: The room was small which is typical in most large cities. The bathroom was functional but extremely small. The room was clean with plenty of outlets. We were on the 2nd floor overlooking Paddington Station. Even though we slept with the window open the noise from the station did not bother us at all. The mini-bar included a can of coke, diet coke and water. While not extensive it was nice to have a beverage upon return from a day in London. This was restocked when room was cleaned. The bed was very comfortable. I would 100% stay at this hotel again. It is convenient to Heathrow via Heathrow Express with access the rest of London via underground. There was a door person on duty whenever we left or returned. The room was clean and the service was impeccable.

Without question the worst hotel in London. The facilities in no way match the photos on website. It is dirty and run down. Our room stank, had crumbs on the floor and dark stains on both the sheets and the curtains. To top things off there was no working air conditioning at all in the hotel - in Summer! The incredibly rude staff informed us there was no manager to speak to at all. The front desk suggested sending a complaint to a generic email address. Upon asking for a refund I was then shown “an apartment” that apparently was associated with the hotel. I followed a strange man to a dodgy 3rd floor apartment above a shop a few streets away. It was obviously in no way associated with the hotel. The Mecure Paddington is undoubtedly not being run or managed by reputable hoteliers. I am surprised and disappointed it is still included in the Accor group. Avoid!

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times. It's my "go to" when on a long haul flight into Heathrow and need a convenient central London place to crash/drop off bags and get a decent sleep. This hotel is super convenient as it's immediately outside the Paddington Station exit. It's easy to just take the Heathrow Express or Elizabeth Line to Paddington and roll out of the station, up a slight incline or escalator (depending what station exit you take) and roll into the hotel lobby. There are two steps leading into the lobby, but usually there is someone there to help should you need it. Abdul at the front desk was exceptionally helpful and provided excellent customer service every step of the way. (He knew the layout of the rooms in the building quite well so when I requested a room facing the station (not the main street) he knew exactly where to put me.) Typical of most London hotel rooms, the Mercure Paddington rooms are of course small. But they are clean (no strange odors or mustiness as the rooms have constant turnover/hotel activity and a good cleaning crew). The bed was appropriately firm and comfortable. The climate control is good. There is a fridge in the room. The bathrooms are usually tight spaces but the water pressure is decent - and everything is new/clean. The walls are a bit thin and the cleaning crew can feel a bit loud when they start up in the morning, so be prepared for that. Overall, it's one of the better choices amongst the Paddington area hotels in this category.

Be sure not to be allocated room 108!

Be sure as a solo traveller you are not allocated room 108. It must be the smallest room in the entire Mercure hotel with one of the highest tariffs per sq foot. The room has one single bed, all that will fit in the tiny cupboard like space, there is minimal natural light coming from a frosted glass window. The air-conditioning was not working, and the narrow empty floor space (voice of furniture) was for me, a Parkinsons patient, a definite trip hazard. All that for the sum of 278 Pounds sterling per night. Had I not been staying longer than one night I certainly would have demanded a room with larger floor space. On the positive side it was very clean and the staff pleasant.

Lovely Hotel in beautiful Paddington, literal steps from Paddington station . We were given a free room upgrade upon checking in and the room was lovely very clean and quiet. Staff were very friendly and responded all our needs especially Abdul.
