The Novotel Hotel Blackfriars London. The staff was friendly and courteous! They assisted us with directions and places to visit. I especially wish to mention a very special person on your staff. His name is Guiseppe, he made our stay very special! He went beyond all our expectations in providing for everything we needed! It was our first time staying at Novotel, and it will certainly not be our last!

Stayed at this hotel as had some things planned in London for the weekend . Hotel is 3 mins walk from tube station. Staff were so helpful. Hotel was clean and tidy. I left my headphones in the safe and staff went out of their way to help me get them back.

Super staff at the reception, shout out to Denisa and a guy on training (dont remember his name) that checked me in. Overall very good maintennence and cleanlyness. Quiet corridors. The rooms are great with a nice comfy bed, all the staff People arr awesome! Special thanks to Isha Who made us laugh every morning 😀. The only things to improve for me is the gym. For cardio its fine but for training it is a little bit too Light...

Great staff but unsuitable for business travelers due to the numbers of children and lack of work spaces

I’ve stayed in a lot of Novotel’s but this was my first stay at the ‘Blackfriars’ one. (It’s actually not in Blackfriars but Southwark, which causes endless confusion with taxi drivers). I stayed for 11 nights in an Executive room for work. The pros are: 1. Reception staff are charming and very helpful with everything from printing to parcels. Thank you! 2. The restaurant ‘Jamboree’ is unattractive and looks like a cheap Tex-Mex restaurant but the evening food is excellent. I enjoyed everything I ordered. 3. The evening restaurant and bar staff are lovely. 4. The cleaning of the rooms is outstanding. The mineral water very welcome and the toiletries are super. 5. The location near to Southwark and Blackfriars stations is very convenient. It’s also easy to walk to the City and West End. The cons are: 1. Because of the hotel’s proximity to the City (the square mile of London that’s the business district), I assumed that most customers would be quiet business people. I couldn’t have been more wrong! The numbers of families with unruly children was a nightmare. 2. Breakfast was an overpriced shambles. Kids everywhere, food on the floor, plates being smashed, stressed staff, cheap juices and terrible coffee. 3. The quality of the cooked breakfast was an absolute disgrace. Congealed scrambled ‘eggs’, fried eggs like bullets (cooked incorrectly, on view), no grilled tomatoes and so on. The chef appears to think this quality is normal because he’s there but not taking any action. 4. One of the reasons I booked this hotel was because of the gym. Online it looks great. The pictures make it look huge but the results is different. It’s very small with only light weights. 5. It’s very hard to work on a laptop. My room didn’t have a proper desk, even though it was an Executive room. It was really a TV shelf. Downstairs, the tables in ‘Jamboree’ aren’t easy to work at because of the lack of plugs and the uneven surfaces. 6. The room had a vast TV. Far too big for the room. I didn’t use it at all but a regular TV with more space to work would have been preferable. 7. The bathroom had no heated towel rail. A heated towel rail enabled customers to use towels for several days but this wasn’t possible. As lovely as the staff are, I wouldn’t stay here because of the numbers of children and because of the difficulties with working. If you choose to stay here, go out for a better value breakfast!
