Lack of transparency regarding family room setup

We booked a Double Room + Child expecting a basic and reasonable family setup. Upon arrival, we were shocked to discover that the room included only one bed, with the assumption that the child would sleep in the parents’ bed. For a hotel that markets itself as family-friendly, this is completely unacceptable, especially for families traveling with older children or teenagers. What made the situation worse is that this critical information was not clearly disclosed during the booking process. Only after check-in were we informed that an extra bed would require an additional charge. Had this been communicated transparently in advance, we would have absolutely chosen a different hotel. Ending a long family trip with this kind of surprise felt misleading and disappointing, and raises serious concerns about transparency in the booking information.

We arrived at Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam on the 20th of October 2025 to be told at check in that the pool, gym and roof view bar were all under construction and closed. We had booked well in advance and did not receive any pre warning of these works so that we could choose to go elsewhere. We were offered a pool at another hotel which is a 20 minute tuk tuk ride away. We are now sitting in our room at 7pm listening to jack hammers which we have been told will continue until 9pm. This feels like a complete scam.

This hotel is located in the central location and absolutely beautiful inside. Location, perfect for transport and shopping. Staff are very nice and helpful. Breakfast and afternoon tea are delicious. The bed was comfortable and i always have a good night.

The location is so good. I can simply take the escalator from the hotel reception on the 6th floor to Platinum shopping mall on the 5th floor. They offer various options in the breakfast buffet line and I love it! The staff are helpful and make my stay comfortable the entire stay. The hotel is pretty close to Central World Shopping mall and BigC supermarket with just around 5 minutes walk. Overall, I like the hotel location and I enjoy my stay here. Definitely coming back again 👍
