Misleading marketing

I did not stay at VIE Hotel Bangkok – MGallery (but paid for it), as I left shortly after check-in due to misleading representations, particularly of the pool. The hotel images on the Accor’s app led in with their pool, utilising wide-angle / drone photography, which creates the impression of a spacious, well-designed leisure area. In reality, the pool is extremely cramped, poorly laid out, and feels like an afterthought, bearing little resemblance to how it is presented online. Access to a proper pool was important to me, and I had changed my booking based on these images. On seeing the pool in person, it was immediately clear that it did not meet the expectations set by the marketing. I returned the room keys within approximately 10 minutes and raised this immediately. Despite this — and despite having paid approximately £375 for the night — I was informed, after escalation to the front desk manager, that no refund would be offered, not even a partial one, even though I had not stayed in the room or used any facilities. The handling of the situation was disappointing. I was told, “You want to move just because of the pool?” — a dismissive remark that failed to acknowledge a legitimate concern about misleading visual representation. I was also surprised by how dated the hotel appeared (I had thought it was a new property based on their, again, misleading photos but this is an older property but this property actually opened in 2008). This review is shared in the hope that management reflects on the use of wide-angle imagery, value for money, and how guest concerns are handled when raised promptly and reasonably.

My wife and I spent five wonderful days in Bangkok before continuing on to Koh Samui, and we chose the VIE Hotel based on its excellent reputation on TripAdvisor (ranked among the top hotels in the city). Our experience fully lived up to those expectations. While the hotel itself was exceptional, some of our most memorable moments were spent at the Piano Bar and the Michelin-starred Signature Restaurant. The food and drinks were outstanding, but what truly set these experiences apart was the extraordinary warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail shown by the staff. In particular, Nico and his wonderful team, Fah, Pete, and Ant, at the Piano Bar, as well as Das, the sommelier at Signature Restaurant, made our stay genuinely unforgettable. Their kindness, hospitality, and passion for service transformed an already excellent stay into something truly special. We would gladly return and highly recommend the VIE Hotel to anyone visiting Bangkok.

Vie Hotel was a wonderful place to stay in after a long flight and a long day put walking around BKK. The beds were very comfortable, sheets were so heavenly especially after a tiring day of exploring. Service was good, prices of items for room service are reasonable. We also liked the free tuktuk service from the hotel going to the nearby malls like Siam Paragon, Central World. Will definitely stay here again when we come back. Location is prime, very near the malls! Although there aren’t a lot of local eateries around the area if you are into street food.
