Filthy hotel in a grotty area with indifferent staff

Accor currently advertise on their website that all of their hotels offer the highest standards of cleaning to meet levels required by WHO and that after check-in, rooms are cleaned every 3 days but that if a guest prefers, they can request a room change or daily cleaning. Well the Aparthotel Adagio Munich City is absolutely filthy and we stayed for 6 days and didn't have our room cleaned once or our rubbish bins emptied, despite endless requests. The corridor carpets are also stained and the common areas generally are very dirty. But that's not all! When we arrived, we were initially given the studio room that we had booked with one double fold-away bed (according to the Accor Hotel's website). But when we tried to fold away the bed, we not only found that it wouldn't fold away but that underneath it there was a dried-out pool of dirty liquid, which stained the cushions and floor. We therefore returned to reception and said that the bed wouldn't fold away and that the room was dirty. The employee told us that none of the beds folded away because they all have new mattresses which are too big to allow this (talk about misselling by Accor!) and so offered us a new room with twin beds instead - though seemed very concerned that we might have touched the bed in the other room since that could prevent the room being reassigned (clearly there was to be no attempt to resolve the big pool of skank under the bed!). So we were instead given a double room which was had two single beds pushed together and whilst the room was adequate it sadly had little perks like beds which rolled apart or away from the wall when you sat up in them and a shower which flooded, irrespective of how you tried to stop it because the screen provision was far too short. The microwave in our room was filthy and the floor covered in dust upon arrival - as shown in the photos. The utensils in the "fully-equipped" kitchen were filthy as well. There were also stains on the floors and kitchen sideboards, where the cleaner had used a very dirty mop and cloth to do the absolute minimum. So on Monday morning (we arrived on Sunday evening) we asked reception for change to use the laundry - which is €6 in €1 coins for each wash - and were told, rather aggressively, that they do not give change! Fortunately, there is an excellent alternative at the 'Wasch-Center Munchen - Parkstrasse' 15 minutes walk up the road. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - we repeatedly asked for the room to be serviced or, at the very least, to be given new towels. On Tuesday the receptionist wrote down our room number and said he would send "housekeeping" but none came. On Wednesday we were told to leave the wringing wet towels (having used them to dry up the flood in the bathroom) outside our room and that "housekeeping" would collect them and put replacements in our room; well they collected them but no replacements were put in the room and when we later went to reception to ask for replacements the receptionist at first refused and was then very ungracious in providing such. On Thursday we gave up and Friday was similar to Wednesday. Best of all came Saturday when we checked out. When we checked in we were offered the opportunity to pay for our stay in £ or € and selected £ - which works out less than the € amount. So when we checked out we were told that there was still €68.62 outstanding. What could this be? Surely not an additional house keeping charge! When we heard the amounts it occurred to us that the member of staff at check-in had clearly inputted the £ amount against the amount due which had left the balance. We evidenced this by showing the amount on our credit card statement. But again, for too long a time, the member of staff wouldn't hear of this. But eventually, when the steam started to come out of my ears I was sternly told to stop speaking whilst the original receipts were checked and.. hey presto... I had been right but there was no word of apology. The Aparthotel Adagio Munich City is a very un-Germanic hotel in a country renowned for their hospitality and conviviality. In my honest opinion, it's an absolute flea pit in a sketchy part of town close to the station with indifferent staff who do not even acknowledge you when you come in. We had a horrible stay, which I would not wish on anyone - particularly since there are far better options around in other parts of Munich which we have stayed at before. But then it isn't Accor either - unless Accor have lost the plot?! I did email Accor during my stay but their lousy excuse for 'customer service' said that all disputes need to be taken up with the hotel and they will only forward your complaint to them. But they do appreciate me being an infallible (sic) member of their Gold programme! Well that's something.

Room not cleaned in 6 days!

Stayed here for 6 nights and never once had our room cleaned, bins emptied or towels changed. The location is very central and the air con is strong but nobody wants to stay at a hotel that isn’t kept clean. Front desk staff not particularly helpful either.

Nice hotel, but less nice area

Hotel staff was nice and friendly. The hotel has a nice coffee machine and also table football in the lobby. Supermarkets really close. At the same time, it is important to take into account that this area (although it is possible to reach the city center on foot) is typical of central stations of big cities, and the like, with very specific populations. In daylight they are not really scary (at least not us), but at night I would prefer not to be there.We took a family apartment. Overall was good. The kitchen was well equipped. The only problem with the room, because we were with a baby, is that the doors of the rooms are not sealed and also the floor in the hallway and on the way to the bathroom is quite noisy, so noise may wake the baby. We solved this (though not completely) with fan noise.

Spacious. Lots of cabinets. Kitchen with stove, microwave, ref, dishwasher. Kitchen has a pot and a casserole, along with some plates, bowls, glasses, utensils. There is an Aldi close by (less than 10mins walk) so you can buy stuff to cook and eat here, just like back home. The thing is, the apartment honestly does not feel clean. Feels very dusty, you see dust accumulations on the eating utensils, on the smoke detector, on the coffee machine. Lamps had dust accumulations and stains. Shower also still had small hairs and black specks on the shower floor. The intention of booking this hotel was to be able to cook our meals for the stay but due to how dirty it was, I honestly felt disgusted to cook here and even use the eating utensils. Bed is comfy but pillow is so flat, it's practically non existent. We couldn't sleep at all here cos of that. We were able to ask for extra pillows but were just given the same kind of pillow that was so flat. Even if we each used two of these pillows, it still didn't help. The bed was firm, which I liked... But this can be too firm for some as other reviewers mentioned. My husband actually had back pains due to their bed. If I also knew the surrounding neighborhood, we wouldn't have chosen to stay here. It feels very unsafe. It's about 10mins to the station, so that was good.. But you have this immigrant neighborhood around of Arabs, Turks, Muslims. It felt very unsafe. Even walking with my husband, you could feel these men looking at you like some piece of meat. I felt disgusted and really hated being around such neighborhood. Be aware that the check-out of the hotel is at 11am. We booked thru a booking site that indicated it as 12pm. Thankfully the hotel honored the 12pm check out indicated however, on the day of check out, it was very irritating that as early as 830am,housekeeping already kept knocking on the room already. They kept knocking all throughout the morning until we left.

Was here for 5 nights with my wife and 2 kids. Hotel location is great since you can walk to the old city. Also there is an underground garage so you can park your car and just walk around. Staff is great helpful and really nice. There is cute little part of the lobby for kids where they can play, draw and play table football. Breakfast is nice and helps while being there with the kids. Room was the right size, clean and with bedroom and living room separate sleeping area. Also there was a small kitchen and there is great beer to buy at the reception. Would come here if in Munich.
