Unique and centrally located place to stay in Munich!

Tripadvisor 评级 5.0/5

adamk386 Couples - 经 TripAdvisor 认证的评论

Our stay at 25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian in Munich was fantastic! This quirky and fun hotel has a unique charm with lots of natural light and beautifully designed spaces. The on-site restaurants and bars are excellent, offering a vibrant atmosphere and great food and drinks. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any requests. While the minibar was a bit of a letdown (stocked with just two waters, one alcoholic, and one non-alcoholic drink), they do refill it on request—though it’s limited to water and cola, not beer. That small detail aside, this hotel was a joy to stay in. Its central location makes it perfect for exploring the city, and the lively ambiance adds to the experience. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and centrally located place to stay in Munich!

Dear adamk386, thank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience at 25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian! We are thrilled to hear that your stay with us was fantastic and that you enjoyed the unique charm, natural light, and beautifully designed spaces of our hotel. Your kind words about our on-site restaurants and bars truly mean a lot to us, as we strive to create a vibrant and memorable atmosphere for our guests. It’s also wonderful to know that our team left a positive impression on you. We pride ourselves on our friendly and helpful staff, and we're so glad to hear that they were able to assist you during your stay. That being said, we want to apologize for the disappointment regarding the minibar. You’re absolutely right—it should have been restocked more comprehensively, as this is usually part of our standard service. Unfortunately, it seems we fell short this time, and we regret that it took away from an otherwise excellent experience. Please rest assured that we have addressed this issue with our team to ensure that future stays live up to our high standards in every detail. We’re grateful that you still found joy in your stay despite this hiccup, and we're happy to hear you appreciated our central location and lively ambiance. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Munich soon—next time, with an impeccably stocked minibar awaiting you! Warm regards, Monique Lehmann Guest Relation Supervisor

Super convenient location but room for improvement on comfort and service

Overall, the stay was good. I don’t disagree with others that it’s not in the prettiest area with construction everywhere but we didn’t feel unsafe at all like some had suggested. There was no one hanging out in the steps in front of the hotel (perhaps because it was cold!) and the area didn’t seem as seedy as I was expecting. It was super convenient if you are going to be using a lot of trains and it was within a 10 mins walk of old town. To be honest, there were SO many people in the centre we could barely walk so was happy to be in a less populated area. The hotel lobby is one floor up from street level but you access the rooms directly from street level (need your room card to access). The hotel itself is fine. Very moody, which is what I think they are going for. However, sometimes focusing more on aesthetic vs practicality. Who needs a sofa seat in an already small elevator when or a typewriter that doesn’t work in your room? Takes up space that can be used for other things! We had an XL room which was a good size. People kept saying the room was dark but it was alright (we didn’t have dark grey walls though!) We were on a higher floor so had one of those semi-round windows and slanted wall. The room was surprising quiet even though we were facing the street and the bed was comfortable. Here are the things I would say need to be improved: 1. the floor tiles in our room were stained and appeared to be dirty. The cleanliness of the floor needs to be checked 2. The bathroom is “open space” so if you are with anyone but your partner this requires a little manoeuvring to ensure privacy. 3. Coffee facility in the room is ridiculous- don’t need to be trendy with a drip. Put in a nespresso machine and make it easy. Otherwise it’s like a beaker, you need a filter, need to boil the water in the kettle, and then wait for a long time until the coffee is ready. 4. Asking for water/ coffee everyday was so annoying. Reading the reviews ahead of time we knew that they didn’t replenish the mini-bar everyday and that we had to ask. Just replenish the water and coffee if you see that it has been used…how hard is that? Btw- the other items in the minibar- a couple of non-alcoholic beers, a cola drink, one fizzy and one still water, chocolate bar and a bag of cashews. Everyday we had to go through the same song and dance for water and coffee. Not sure how that affects sustainability…like they always say. 5. The towels- we didn’t have ripped up towels like others have mentioned but they were the thinnest, smallest of our entire trip. Funny enough, when we asked housekeeping staff for a few extra towels on the last day, he handed me big fluffy ones….why can’t those be in all the rooms from the get go? 6. The bar/restaurant was closed one night for a private party. We had gone down to front desk and it was SO loud that staff couldn’t even hear what we were saying. Room service and possibility of getting food from restaurant was also not available. How can a hotel shut down its services to its 160+ rooms for a private party?

Dear Travellingcdg, thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. We truly appreciate your constructive comments and we're glad to hear that overall, you enjoyed your visit and found our location convenient despite the surrounding construction. Let me address each of your points in detail to provide clarity and share how we aim to improve where possible. Location and Surroundings You're absolutely right—the construction nearby is beyond our control, and we completely understand how it might affect the overall perception of the area. While we can't influence the ongoing development around us, we hope that the convenience of being so close to the train station and just a short walk from the bustling old town added value to your stay. We're happy to hear that you appreciated the quieter location after navigating the crowded city center. Design Elements Our design pays homage to the building’s history as a former telegraph and post office, which is why you'll find unique elements like typewriters in the rooms. They're meant for use but also to celebrate the royal and historic theme of the property. Similarly, the sofa in the elevator is a playful, unconventional touch that aligns with our royal aesthetic vision. Room Design and Features You mentioned staying in one of our XL rooms, which are indeed characterized by their pink tones. The darker wall colors you referred to are exclusive to our Large rooms. We make every effort to clearly display the layouts, color schemes, and features of our rooms on all booking platforms, including details about the open bathroom concept and coffee preparation setup. This allows guests to choose the option that best suits their preferences. Regarding the coffee facility, we’ve opted for a more manual preparation method as it aligns with the overall design of the room and provides a more sustainable alternative to single-use pods. While a Nespresso machine might feel more convenient, it would conflict with the cohesive design of our spaces. Sustainability and Minibar Service Sustainability is at the core of our service philosophy, which is why we don’t automatically refill minibars or replace consumables daily unless requested. We understand that asking for water and coffee each day might feel inconvenient, so we encourage you to let us know ahead of your next visit if you’d like this service handled differently. We’d be happy to note your preferences in your reservation and ensure you have everything you need throughout your stay. Cleanliness and Amenities We're sorry to hear that the floor tiles in your room didn’t meet your expectations. Cleanliness is a top priority for us, and we’ve shared your concerns with our housekeeping team to ensure closer attention is paid during inspections. Regarding the towels, we typically provide two sizes in every room. It seems this standard wasn’t met during your stay, and we apologize for this oversight. We're glad that you received larger, more luxurious towels when you asked and will make sure this inconsistency is addressed. Restaurant and Private Event We're truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the private party during your stay. While these events are rare, they can disrupt the usual atmosphere and services. We apologize for the noise and lack of alternative dining options that evening. Your feedback will help us improve our communication and plan better accommodations for all guests in similar situations. Thank you once again for your honest and detailed review. Your observations provide valuable insights that allow us to continue refining the guest experience. We hope to welcome you back in the future and show you how we’ve improved based on your feedback. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly before your next visit so we can make sure every detail of your stay is tailored to your preferences. Warm regards, Monique Lehmann Guest Relation Supervisor

Average service and pricey

We stayed there for 5 nights in an extra large room. Although I made the reservation months ago, we were given an accessible room during the check-in without asking my confirmation. We were told that the mini bar at room was free of charge and renewed everyday. However, even the bottled water not renewed. When I asked the reception for a bottled water they told us we should be asking daily for minibar to be renewed and did not give us water saying that it can only be replaced by housekeeping during the day. The towels were worn out as well. The extra large room we stayed was spacious however by design it was dark (not enough lighting) and the decoration felt out-dated. The breakfast selection and the service were also mediocre. The only positive I can think of is its relatively central location. Overall, the hotel does not worth the hype for this price level.

Dear Monsieur_SoSo, thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We're sorry to hear that your stay didn't fully meet your expectations, and we'd like to address the points you raised directly. First, regarding the assignment of your room: Our policy is to allocate rooms based on availability, and we strive to inform our guests in advance whenever a room might differ from the standard category they booked. However, due to the high occupancy in recent days, it’s possible that no other XL rooms were available during your check-in. The accessible room you were assigned does have some unique advantages, such as a larger bathroom and additional space compared to our standard XL rooms. We hope these features added some comfort to your stay. Concerning the minibar, it is indeed available free of charge but refilled upon request, which we communicate at check-in. This approach is part of our commitment to sustainability, helping us reduce waste and unnecessary restocking. We apologize if this was not clearly emphasized or if it caused inconvenience during your stay. You mentioned that the room felt too dark. While our design is inspired by the royal Bavarian theme, reflecting the heritage suggested by our hotel's name, we understand that lighting preferences vary. We would have been happy to provide additional lighting had we known this was an issue for you. Your comfort is always a priority for us, and we’ll ensure our team highlights such options more proactively in the future. As for the towels, we're genuinely sorry if they appeared worn out. We’ll be addressing this with our housekeeping team immediately to ensure our linen quality meets the standards we aim to provide. Finally, we regret that you found the breakfast and service to be only average. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will review both areas with our team to identify where improvements can be made. Thank you again for your candid comments. Best regards, Monique Lehmann Guest Relation Supervisor

I am currently at the Royal Bavarian to visit the Christmas markets with my husband. The good: Great location, super cool vibe, very clean, water temp and pressure in shower are fabulous, free mini bar (not a great selection, but, hey, it's free), nice thick towels, good mattresses. The not-so-good: The lighting is TERRIBLE - hallway is so dark I almost don't feel safe, corner closet is black inside and there's no light to see the contents, lights in room are very yellow and give a strange cast to skin tone, no decent light to apply makeup so be prepared to do makeup at the window with a small compact. The fabulous: Boilerman Bar is fantastic! Provided soap, lotion, and bodywash all smell unbelievable. The provided backpack was so useful for carrying my purchases. Hubby is trying to talk me out of buying one for myself.

Dear GenericUserID, thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your stay with us at 25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian! It’s wonderful to hear you chose our hotel for your visit to the magical Christmas markets – we hope you enjoyed the festive atmosphere in Munich. First, let me say how happy we are to hear that you found so much to love about your experience! From our central location to the clean rooms, great water pressure, comfy beds, and those fabulous thick towels, it sounds like you got to enjoy some of the details we take pride in. The free minibar may be small, but we agree – it’s always nice to have a little extra treat on the house. We also appreciate your honesty about the lighting. Your feedback is truly valuable, as we aim to create a unique and cozy atmosphere that works for every guest. It seems like we missed the mark a bit when it comes to functionality. We’ll make sure to pass your thoughts about the hallway and room lighting on to our team. We’ll look into ways to improve, especially for practical needs like makeup application – we totally get how important that is! And last but certainly not least – we're thrilled that you loved the fabulous Boilerman Bar and the little extras like the heavenly-smelling toiletries and our signature backpack. It’s so nice to know that it came in handy for your market shopping! We’d love to welcome you both back again soon, whether it’s for another festive trip or just to soak up the unique vibe of our hotel. Until then, have a wonderful holiday season and safe travels! The Quirkiest hotel we've ever stayed in

The quirkiest hotel we've ever stayed in. The room was large and comfortable and even contained a bike! A few complimentary bits in the fridge and even a sustainable bag to use when going out and about. A lot of great detail and thought. The bar was full and lively, even on a week night! Breakfast was plentiful and the selection covered all bases from traditional German, Continental and Full English. Staff were friendly and attentive and available 24 hours a day. There might not have been pretty views but it is perfectly situated next to tram and trains for exploration.

Dear RachelBorland, thank you so much for your fantastic review! It’s wonderful to know that you loved the unique touches in your room, like the bike and the sustainable bag. We're glad you appreciated those small extras in the fridge as well – it’s our way of adding a little surprise to your stay. We aim to cater to all tastes, so it’s great to hear it hit the spot for you. Our team is over the moon to hear your kind words about their friendliness and attentiveness. We really do try our best to make everyone feel welcome and taken care of 24/7. You're right, while we may not have postcard-perfect views, our location near the tram and train stations is perfect for exploring Munich and beyond. Thank you for pointing that out! We hope to welcome you back soon for another quirky stay. Until then, safe travels and all the best! Warm regards, Monique Lehmann Guest Relation Supervisor
