Stayed overnight in two rooms for a weekend event in Shrewsbury. As an Accor Diamond member, we remain loyal to the brand. Most hotels run as independent franchises and the loyalty offerings vary wildly between properties that we encounter. That said here at the Mercure, both rooms were upgraded to junior suites and early check in available circa 1:30pm without question. No welcome amenity was present in either room, but complimentary breakfast was offered the following day again without asking. So from a loyalty benefit point of view close to perfect but not quite. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is what it is. It’s a very old traditional building so this will never be a modern venue. Rooms were comfortable but if honest are ready for a little updating. Sofa bed pillows had seen better days (stained) even though clean bed linen was obviously provided. Overall, a pleasant stay with lovely staff, but some areas are ready for a little TLC.

We were on a girls spa break at this lovely hotel . The staff make this place worth staying at , from the moment you check in , the cleaners, Cameron And Morgan at the bar couldnt do enough for us, Manager Elinor super friendly, Tom and Paul on reception very accommodating and the waiting on team super efficient. We ate in the Oak Dining Room , refined,tasty well presented food and we also tried the bar food which was just as tasty but not as refined as you would expect. Hotel and its grounds are well kept and full of history , duck pond and fountain , nice little bandstand overlooking. If you want peace and quiet on the hotel side then this is the place for you , even sleeping was uninterrupted in the comfortable well stocked rooms . Its a very busy hotel on the corporate meeting side but they were in another building so we didnt cross paths really. The girls in the beauty treatment room were super friendly , we had lovely manicures and at a good price, unfortunately there was no list of treatments online or at-the spa otherwise Im sure we would have booked more. They said it was being looked into . Now for the negative…. We went into the pool on our first night after checking in at 4, the pool was cordoned off for private children’s swimming lessons, what a racket. Not really enough room for four of us to swim comfortably as the pool is a lot smaller than the online pictures. We only lasted 15 minutes as it wasnt relaxing at all . When we got to the showers, they were taken over by super noisy kids , not controlled by parents at all , they were standing around chatting with no consideration for guests and these kids were actually screaming loud. Changing room was the same we couldnt wait to get out. After complaining to Jack the Spa Manager he wasnt at all apologetic and suggested we time our visits around the classes. He was very flippant and arrogant and seemed to be more concerned about regulars than guests. He was the only member of staff to let the whole hotel down. Shame. We would certainly visit this hotel again and are looking to book in the Spring however we will not be bringing our swim gear, its not worth the noise level . Be warned.

Just come back from a 2 night break. Throughly enjoyed it. Stayed in room 63 lakeside overlooking lake. Staff were very polite and friendly Cameron in the bar went above and beyond. Swimming pool was great. Room was comfortable. Will definitely recommend.

A return visit to the Allbrighton, if anything, it was better as good if not better than our first visit. All staff were pleasant and helpful, the food was excellent, with good vegetarian options. Accommodation is of a very high standard. Lovely grounds for walking.

Everything was amazing from check in to check out Staff very polite and friendly nothing was too much trouble Bed was so comfortable everything and everywhere was spotless food was delicious grounds and views stunning will definitely stay here again
