Stayed in this hotel for a business trip and cannot find anything that is missing or out of place. Good welcome with clear directions to your room and breakfast. Rooms are nice with good beds, the best shower ever in a hotel, airconditioning, fridge in the room and really good soundproofing. I stayed in room 111 and with the Christmas market underneath my window the room is really quiet. On my arrival day the shampoo dispenser was almost empty and had a towel with brown stains on it. Reported it reception and they actions immediately. Cannot say anything else they: good job everyone!

More leisure centre than spa. Avoid.

I attended the spa today, 2nd December 2022 and left within the hour. First I’d like to point out that staff were helpful, friendly and polite… and that’s about where the good points end. The spa itself was rather run down. The steam room was freezing cold, the aesthetics of the spa were undesirable (holes in walls, damp stains on ceilings, old furniture, toilets in changing rooms didn’t flush properly) and the general feel was more leisure centre than spa. I had a facial and honestly, it was rubbish. The treatment room was freezing cold, the therapist too was like an ice cube when she was touching my décolletage and face. The facial itself felt like I was having a damp dish rag swished across my face with lukewarm water. Drink on arrival was from a vending machine that tasted like rocket fuel. I arrived at 9:17am and left at just before 10:30am. Avoid this spa.

We were attending a concert in Sheffield and needed somewhere to stay overnight. As a member of the Mercure club I found a really great deal which was to good to turn down. Then over the past few weeks I have been reading the trip advisor reports and we almost cancelled. First up car park; We used the Q park which is 100m from the hotel and have to say is immaculate and very safe. Can’t see why anybody had a complaint as with the hotel voucher is £15 for 24 hours in a city centre. Check in; We arrived at 12 so the room was not ready, left our case with reception and wandered off for a bite and pint followed by the concert in the city hall. Arrived back around 6 and we were very well looked after by Wictoria (think that was her name). Nothing was too much trouble and she then made our night by saying we had a 3 course evening meal included in our deal which was a nice surprise for the price we paid; The room; We were in a privilege room on the 5th floor which overall was OK. It had everything we expected and with a little bit of extra money (few pictures on the walls) and care could be amazing? Bed was 2 singles together but needed joining together properly and a cover? The shower was excellent just needed a decent clean? The evening meal; Considering it was included was fantastic, the steak was cooked perfectly and the staff grew on us as the evening progressed. Breakfast; Wow - 10 out of 10 - Best buffet we have had in ages So overall could easily be 4.5

Very dissapointing

First of all we asked for a particular number room ( we had stayed there before ). On arrival at the hotel We were assured that if we had asked for that room we would get it . Although we arrived at 11.00am too early to book in we told reception we would go and have a snack in their bar until our room was ready. When we went to check in I was told that all the rooms had been taken and we then had to ask them to change what they had allocated to us which was not acceptable. In our room the milk that was left for us had three empty sachets left in I can only assume from the previous room occupants. The light on the dressing table does not work. We ordered pizza , we were told that they did not any at all ( I make mine pizza base in minuets )I assume bought in ??? WE asked for ciabatta sandwich they did not have any, My husband ordered a ham, cheese sandwich on white bread it was very stale. Breakfast said continental or English, although the English was plentiful the continental was almost non excitant. Very Very disappointing. To top our disappointing weekend there were asylum seekers milling around staying there. I fear for the staff employment, redundancies if the government take it over fully as the other hotels are doing this.

God morning Ann R, Are you sure that you have the correct hotel? This doesn't sound anything like our hotel. We certainly don't have asylum seekers staying at property and never have had. Spa & Gym Day

Can’t say I would recommend the Spa. Tired, not all working, noisy. Pool, was okay though. Gym was fine, couldn’t fault it. Was an okay day, but that’s all. Staff were pleasant. Left with a nagging feeling that it was “meh”
