The 4-star Mercure Sheffield St Paul's Hotel & Spa is perfectly located in the heart of Sheffield city centre. perfectly placed for the Crucible and polite friendly and helpful staff

stayed for a 6 night stay because I had tickets booked for a snooker seniors tournament at the crucible which is just across the square from the hotel so the hotel is perfectly placed for anyone going to the Crucible. I had a good time apart from an issue with the aircon being noisy which kept me awake through half of the second night i was their but I politely informed the staff who were very helpful in sorting it out. food wise the morning buffy tasted lovely and if I do come again I am going to include the breakfast again. also the staff are very friendly and polite.

I am writing this review to give recognition to two wonderful people who work on Reception at this hotel...Amanda and Robin. They are without a doubt 'the best of the best' in what they do...nothing is too much trouble, and they are a big part of the reason why will shall be returning for yet another stay next year. Thank you both, your Customer Service is very much appreciated. My only reason for giving 4* and not 5* is for the fact that the Air-conditioning was non-existant in our room(201). This is a lovely Junior Suite with floor to ceiling windows, but unfortunately, on this occasion, they acted as a greenhouse what with the warm weather we encountered. The cooling fan we were given was also insufficient, and I would suggest they upgraded. This alone did hamper our enjoyment of our stay as it impacted on our sleep, and made us feel really uncomfortable...such a shame. Saying this, on our departure, Amanda went 'above and beyond' to show us a selection of other rooms that we could choose in readiness for next year's stay, thus allowing us to be happy in the knowledge that we had alternatives.

Wonderful Stay for the Snooker

I’ve just returned from my second stay at this fantastic hotel, and once again it was a brilliant experience. I travelled solo from Ireland for the World Snooker and stayed in room 114 for five nights. The room was perfect — spotlessly clean, very quiet, and extremely comfortable. I couldn’t fault it. The bar was a lovely place to unwind. Matty behind the bar is an absolute gentleman — very welcoming, knowledgeable, and calm, even during busy times. He also makes a fantastic cocktail! A special mention must go to Ferial, the night manager. Having worked in hotels for four years myself, I can say she is one of the best I’ve ever met. She has such a warm, professional way about her and truly made my stay memorable. She also poured the best pint of Guinness I’ve ever had in England! Overall, I had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to return. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making my trip so enjoyable.
