Booked the hotel a while ago, unfortunately our flights were changed by the airline which left us unable to use the booking. Contacted the hotel and was met with no response at all. I understand rates are non refundable but the to be completely ignored is very disappointing and has put me off using the Accor brand in the future.

Stayed here for a night in June as a connection stopover before getting the ICE train to Germany.  The hotel is in a fantastic location for Basel SBB central station, being a five minute walk to and from there.  The hotel additionally provides an unlimited public transport ticket to get you around the city for free for the duration of your stay (as a one night stay we had a 48 hour ticket for each of us), which was absolutely fantastic and enabled us to see a lot more of the city than we probably would have as public transportation can be very pricey in Basel.  Whilst the room was slightly dated (this is a budget hotel after all!), it was meticulously clean and quiet which as a connection hotel for us was very important to get a good nights rest in after a long day travelling, and another ahead of us.  The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and spoke several languages to help guests with their queries seamlessly.  We opted into the breakfast as we had an early connection to make and this was plentiful, fresh and of good quality.  There was a staff member constantly checking food to ensure it was replenished. There are additionally many cafes in the close vicinity and at the station if you have more time however.  Would absolutely recommend for a quick, clean and quiet stopover.

Nice clean and tidy hotel. Basic as you should expect from Ibis. But nothing to complain about. Very friendly and helpful staff. Everyone spoke English which helped me as I am ashamed my German is very poor. Also good location. Near to the railway station and with two tram stops right outside.

Just a "Meh..." hotel

I was prompted to write this review because I honestly didn't think this hotel deserved high ratings other than its location was central and within walking distance to train station and bus stops. I was attending a conference and there was a direct bus there from here. The service at the front office was dubious and was told that I needed to come down to check my wifi password everyday as it changed daily... what the...?! Of course this was just a snide remark and you wondered what kind of intention this person had especially from a personnel in hospitality? The only time she smiled nicely was asking you to purchase their buffet breakfast which l declined. The additional stars I gave was the dailly tidy and clean room service and the nice young receptionist who kindly directed me the way to my next destination. The hotel was not cheap and I found out that there were better and cheaper ones around too.

Watch out there's a thief about Jun 2024 Be very carful in this hotel arrived late on wed had 180euro and £120 in my wallet ordered a pizza. From the night porter and payed in cash when I woke had a quick breakfast very poor quality and left walked 500 yards to train station to get my train to Frankfurt within 5 mins of me getting on train I went to buffet car to get a coffee opened my wallet to find all my cash honest could only of happed in the hotel on my return from Frankfurt 24 hour later I went to hotel to speak to manager and he couldn't even be bothered to come out and talk to me didn't want to know I think if I was the manager I would want to to know if one of my staff was a thief' the only time my wallet was out of my sight was when I was asleep scary to think I hat someone came in my room and robbed me appalled Ibis Basel Bahnhof Hotel Written 20/06/24 1 1 traveller found thie holofuL + Explore Search Plan Review Account

Dear Mr N, Thank you for sharing your experience. We deeply regret the unfortunate incident you described during your stay at Ibis Basel Bahnhof Hotel. The safety and satisfaction of our guests are our top priorities, and we take such matters very seriously. We understand your concern, but we would like to emphasize that it's dangerous and unfair to accuse the staff without any concrete evidence. Our hotel has been operating for 15 years, and we have never encountered such an incident. We assure you that we do not steal from our guests. In fact, any items left behind by guests are kept for six months before being disposed of. It is also impossible for someone to enter your room during the night. Our cleaning service is only conducted once the guest has departed. You must also consider the possibility that you may have lost your money on the way to the train station or at the station itself. It appears that you have chosen the easiest solution by accusing the hotel staff without any proof. Additionally, we must clarify that it is not true the manager refused to meet with you. I was absent on the day of your return, which is why I was unable to speak with you at that time. Best regards Ismail Elouazzani - General Manager
