A good hotel with unhelpfull,inefficient reception staff who make you wait for the room.

Arrived at the hotel at 12.30 hrs 27,11,2025 i was aware that check in was from 14.00 hrs onwards . the lady informed me that the rooms are not ready till 14,00 hrs we were sitting at the reception area 5 rooms checked out at 12,40 i saw them . After waiting till 13,50 i asked the gentleman at the reception about my room he said check in is 15.00 allthough the check in time written on my booking was written 14.00 , then the lady showed up and the same lady who said check in was 14,00 said it was 15 ,00 . i had enough of this waiting and lying morrocans i wanted to cancel my booking . then i received a room right away . Room 101 . These 2 reception staff give the hotel a bad name and should be given training in customer service or Fired from the hotel . from 12.30 to 14.00 . they did not care to call housekeeping and get a room ready and we were the only ones waiting in the reception . train these people that when a customer arrives and is waiting , to give them the room as soon as possible and cordinate it with housekeeping . The system they use is the rooms are allocated to the arrivals for the day and the paperwork is in different files at the reception with the guest name .and they are so lazy and dont care they wait till housekeeping informs that the room asigned to the guest is ready .until then they make the guest sit and wait . And at the end they tell me different booking companies have different check in times they think people are stupid and have not travelled before .Avoid this hotel .

Overall, the environment is good, but the washrooms are too small and there is no shower available, which was quite disappointing. Especially in a Muslim country, I didn’t expect this.

Disappointment Disguised as Hospitality

With over 100+ hotel stays this year alone I have never left a negative review, but this stay deserves one. My experience at Novotel Marrakech Hivernage was an extraordinary display of disorganisation, indifference, and false advertising from a hotel that has no business calling itself a resort. When I arrived, I was placed in a room directly above construction work, which made the space impossible to rest in. When I raised the issue, I was moved to a smaller, downgraded room with no balcony, no view, and fewer amenities than the one I had booked. I agreed to this only after being assured that I would be upgraded the following day. The next afternoon, after several hours of waiting, I was informed that an upgrade was ready. It turned out to be identical to the room I had just stayed in, located on a higher floor with broken air conditioning. This led to another move at two in the morning, this time into a single bedroom but with working air conditioning. Every room I stayed in suffered from the same faults. The showers flooded the floor, fittings were worn, and the overall atmosphere felt neglected. The hotel advertises itself as a resort, yet there is nothing about it that distinguishes it from a standard city hotel. There is no spa, no enhanced dining, and no sense of comfort that would make guests want to spend time there. If a property chooses to call itself a resort, it must deliver something that justifies that title. The pre-booked airport transfer I arranged and paid for through the hotel arrived 45 minutes late. Staff could not locate the booking and took an unreasonable amount of time to provide a solution. What made the stay most frustrating was the lack of accountability. There was no apology, no effort to correct the situation, and no gesture of goodwill. Guests book holidays to rest, not to chase down the basics of service. There is a clear difference between a place to sleep and a place to stay. This hotel presents itself as the latter but offers nothing that would make you want to remain inside it. I recognise how demanding hospitality work can be, and this is not a reflection of every staff member. The issue lies with management and oversight. Standards have slipped, and the absence of care shows. Until that changes, I would not recommend wasting your time and money at this hotel, if you are seeking the quality and professionalism normally associated with the Accor name.
