Meh, it was okay. I liked my room but the keycards don’t work properly, so you have to constantly ask for a new one in the lobby. I’d recommend the hotel to those visiting Cardiff on a budget, but you might as well go to Novotel next door for only 40 pounds more a night and surely better quality service.

Stayed in this hotel with daughter was given a disabled room where the bathroom was a filthy wet room with no where to hang clothes in bathroom hence anything on floor got soaking wet as the shower water went all over the floor. A disabled seat in toilet this bathroom was totally unacceptable The toilet paper wasn’t changed from the last guess hence had to touch from last guess using it The shower and soap had not been replenished not enough for one person to use luckily we took out Our own. The hotel caters for homeless people . In the reception are was full of homeless with their belongings in plastic bags and also gathered out side hotel with bags and trolleys very off putting to paying guests. Breakfast buffet was also used by the homeless . The food was very basic. Would never stay there again or recommend it .

Check in was quite slow, though the staff were polite. The lifts open and close incredibly slowly for some reason. The room was adequate if basic. The bunkbed ladder had been repainted sloppily and hair was stuck in the paint which was quite unpleasant. Otherwise the room was reasonably clean. There was no shower mat and the shower opened directly into the bedroom, so I almost slipped over. The shower and tap water was hot which was good. There were no plug sockets near the bed so I ended up sleeping at the foot of the bed to be able to charge my phone. There was also no hairdryer. No tea or coffee facilities included with the room, this was an extra charge. I booked including breakfast but was disappointed to find no vegan options at all other than plain fruit. When I asked, they said they could do gluten free which was unhelpful. Not really the fault of the hotel per se but I was kept awake by other guests arriving late at night who were very loud and disruptive in the hallways. My room was also directly opposite a cleaning cupboard so I was disturbed in the morning by the housekeeping team who were a bit heavy handed. In summary, if you want somewhere reasonably close to the centre at rock bottom price, this hotel is adequate but not much more than that.

I stayed here since I took the train to Cardiff for a few days, and it was close to the train station and the city center. It is a location that is walkable to many places people like to go to, like shopping tourist areas, and restaurants. The rooms were nice and clean, but the only issue I had was the location of the only two electric plugs. They are located directly under the TV and nowhere near the bed where I needed them for some medical equipment. I had to run around the city center to find a power strip and run cables around the room. Other than that, the location was perfect. There are two convenience stores within a few minutes’ walk, and only about 10-15 minutes’ walk to places to eat and cafés. I would stay here again if I were in the area.

We really enjoyed our two night stay, our room was extremely clean, quiet and a lovely bed to sleep in, shower hot and powerful, the staff made us very welcome indeed, breakfast continental and all that was needed, dining area again extremely clean and welcoming, thankyou all at the Ibis,
