The staff were absolutely delightful. We had exceptional service and kindness from Semeli (he really went out of his way to help us). We also had help with our dietary requirements from the Restaurant Manager, 'D' (everyone calls me D--it's easier!) And Lea and others on the team were so helpful with serving our food, and always with a smile. The chef was outstanding, and she rose to the challenge (my tired brain sadly can't remember her name!). However, she found workarounds for our wheat and dairy intolerances, and Veganism, while preparing really tasty food for breakfast and dinner, and sometimes also lunch. They were in the process of making their menu more robust for food intolerances, and they were eager to both help me, and ask for feedback about their future plans. They were reassuring and helpful, and we ate well with delicious food, and no one got sick! Hopefully, in the near future, they will be able to offer more intolerant friendly food options and they will get a more secure supply chain for intolerance-friendly staples so they can make more options. We also indulged in an amazing on-site massage...excellent massage and good prices, in a lovely, relaxing, clean atmosphere. The ladies were welcoming and caring, and we had a lovely experience. The location was good regarding access to all the siteseeing opportunities, and they have a dedicated on-site tour coordinator. However, we wanted to do some activities, but do them our way, and none of the tours quite fitted us. So Semely was able to organise a cost-friendly taxi tour option, which put us in complete control. This was perfect for us. All in all, this was a wonderful stay, made so by the lovely staff at the Mercure, and by the clean and pleasant hotel environment. We would highly recommend a stay here (we were here for 4 nights). Disliked · We had a bad experience coming back from the town in a 'crazy' taxi...not the hotel's fault, but worth a 'heads up' to future travellers...He passed himself off as a legitimate taxi, but when we got in, there were no seatbelts in the back, and he was yelling at everyone, and generally terrified us (& I'm not easily scared). Next time, I would either ring the Mercure as book one to collect us when werw done, or ask one of the lovely locals at the doors to most large shops to help us find a safe one. Regarding the hotel, there was nothing we didn't like, but it will be even better when they have their new intolerance-friendly menu and educated staff (although D definitely knew his stuff!). It would be great if there were shade cloths over the pool, as we weren't able to use it during the hottest parts of the day as the UV was extreme. Also, it would be great if there was a way to lock and unlock the sliding back-doors from the outside on the ground floor rooms, so we didn't have to walk all the way around to get to the pool if no one was left in the room. This is not a long walk, but it would capitalise on the ease of being on the ground floor near the pool. Overall this was a fabulous place to stay, with the hotel staff being amazing, and the environment being clean, relaxed, safe and lovely.

I stayed at your property from 24 November to 26 November, and on the evening of 25 November, I had drinks at the hotel restaurant. I left the restaurant at approximately 10:20 PM, and accidentally left my small bag behind. When I checked out the next morning on 26 November, I realized the bag was missing and went to the front desk to inquire about it. The receptionist returned the bag to me; however, I was shocked to discover that a sealed envelope containing over 300 FJD in cash was missing. All other items remained in the bag, which clearly indicates that the envelope was deliberately removed. When I left the restaurant that night, there were no other guests present—only two staff members. This makes it highly likely that the money was taken by someone working at the hotel. This is extremely disappointing and unacceptable, especially given that I trusted the hotel as a safe environment. I immediately requested the hotel to contact the police and review the CCTV footage, but unfortunately I had to leave for the airport, so I could not stay to follow up. The hotel only took my contact details and told me they would get back to me. As of now, I have not received any update. I travel frequently and stay in many hotels around the world, and I have never experienced such an incident. I always believed Fiji to be a friendly and honest place, which makes this experience even more disheartening.

Upon receiving your report on 26 November, our team immediately: Logged the incident in the hotel’s security register; Retrieved and safeguarded your bag from the restaurant; Began reviewing internal processes and staff movements; and Initiated the request for CCTV footage analysis in accordance with our protocols. As you departed for the airport shortly after lodging the complaint, our team informed you that the investigation would continue and that findings would be communicated after the required reviews were completed. We sincerely apologise if this follow-up has not occurred as quickly as you expected. To ensure a thorough and fair investigation, we kindly request the following additional information from you: Any evidence or confirmation that the alleged missing cash was part of the contents of the bag at the time it was left behind, such as a withdrawal slip, receipt, or other supporting detail that can assist in validating the claim. Please rest assured that we are committed to establishing the facts clearly and transparently. Fiji and our hotel remain dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all guests, and this matter will be handled with the utmost integrity. We will provide you with a further update once the internal review, staff interviews, and CCTV assessment have been completed. Should you have any additional information that may support the process, please feel free to share it with us at your earliest convenience.
