Nice location, comfortable, bathrooms felt dated and we werent sure if it was safe to swim/submerge head in the main pool cuz of all the warnings bout geothermal pools. Strong sulphur smell but that appears to just be rotorua. Was excited for emailed estandby upgrade but then was denied due to no availability. Was disapointed wont be using estandby again to avoid future disapointment.

Stayed with my husband to celebrate his birthday and our anniversary. Shower over bath was not very nice and shower head was very poor flow.

The breakfast is not as good as other Novotel hotels, less than average

The location is fantastic and also the service from the team is really good. The bed, however, was really soft and sunk in the middle. I barely got any sleep and had back pain. I think it would be great if the beds were a bit firmer.

Very tired hotel. Sink leaked. Toilet very worn/ dirt rings don’t come out with cleaning. Nothing seemed related to the Maori culture which seems to be everywhere else in Rotarua. Needs major face lift. Not a welcoming foyer/ lounge either. Hope you make improvements because the town was nice to visit.

The hotel was lovely and the staff were excellent. We had a great room which exceeded our expectations. We just think it’s high time you stopped charging the 2.5% credit card surcharge. It’s 2020 and the world is going cashless. The smaller hotels and businesses have stopped this extortion and its high time the larger chains caught up.

Despite 2 advance requests both on booking & checking in online advising we had allergies to feathers , we discovered our room had all feather bedding. The housekeeping came to change the bedding while we were in the room & she had to vacuum the mattress it looked like a chicken had been plucked on the bed. The whole room was covered in duck down I had to wipe my phone screen to remove the down. The cleaner was very apologetic but it was very stressful & my asthma was terrible that night. Unacceptable for a Novotel especially with such advance warning.

Hotel was lovely. Everyone was very friendly. We were disappointed at the Restaurant. This was a special night for us and we were unaware it was smorgasbord. We read the dining in guide in our room and had decided what to have. Now assuming dining in is in the room not the hotel. We got to the restaurant about 8.45 - the dining in guide had said open till 10pm. The soup was lovely but only tepid ., the roast veges were cold, the green veges hot but very watery. The meat had been sitting around for ages. No one was around to cut the beef for ages. It was beautifully cooked thou. Overall it wasn't the dining experience we were expecting.

Very slow check in, even though we were in the priority queue. We were given free drink vouchers as compensation however.

We have stayed at Novotel Lakeside many times and we always enjoy our stay there. The staff in the reception,The bar, the dining room and the housemaids were all friendly and seemed happy in their workplace! This makes us feel welcome and therefore we enjoy our visit.

This hotel is very noisy because of its poor architecture. I could hear my neighbors talking (at normal volume), opening and closing closets, closing/opening curtains, etc. The mattress is way too soft, which can be an issue for many people with back problems. Lastly, the breakfast was not great (not fresh fruit except for aging kiwis, other fruit was obviously from cans, no plain yogurt or decent granola, etc.). I will not stay there again. I also did not feel particularly welcome, even as an Accor member who booked directly on the website. I usually ask for high floor away from elevators and I ended up on 1st floor quite close to the elevators. I understand that requests cannot always be fulfilled but I wasn't told that the hotel was full.
