The room was "worn out," looking like it hadn't been renovated in a long time. The carpet stank (not from the sulphur smell from the area, as the hotel staff tried to convince us), the walls were chipped and greasy, dust everywhere (the room was generally unhygienic), and the soap dispenser in the bathroom was glued to the wall with a hot glue gun?! It's not worth saying anything more about the room. Breakfast was a joke: a few cross-stitched rolls and vegetables that remembered the day before. My stay was for four days. On the second day, I reported it to reception and received the standard response, "Our manager will take care of it tomorrow." Of course, no manager did anything. I only gave 2 because of location.

The last 3 stays at Novatel Rotarua my brother has received a call prior to arriving acknowledging his platinum status and requesting what wine type to leave in room. I have the exact same Accor status but don't seem to receive the same treatment. Also needed to wait at least 10 minutes each day in restaurant at breakfast time waiting on a chef to appear to do eggs. This was frustrating to everyone in restaurant
