The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our visit. We accidentally left some clothing behind in the wardrobe, and the team went above and beyond by not only locating the items but also carefully setting them aside for us to collect. I was particularly touched by the thoughtful phone call letting us know that our belongings had been found—such attention to detail and care really made a difference. Their professionalism, kindness, and dedication truly stood out. A huge thank you to the entire team for making us feel valued and looked after!

Before we left home for Rotorua, I was rung by the hotel to say that they had cancelled our reservation with the Ibis and were putting us up at their "other" hotel. All we had to do is turn up at the desk and go from there. Plus, she said it was our lucky day as we were being up-graded to 5-star. We turned up at the Ibis desk at 1pm (we had told them we would be early as we had a meeting) but the receptionist had no idea of the arrangement as it had not been recorded anywhere at the check-in desk, just that our room had been cancelled. She rang the Novatel, but no one helped her. After waiting for an hour to get a result, we walked around to the Novatel (I had no idea that this was the "other" hotel) and found that we were booked in there. The man who assisted us, gave us 2 free breakfasts and free overnight parking as I was fairly annoyed at having to wait around until it was sorted. He then charged me $389 when the original booking was for $339. As I didn't have the booking with me, I didn't query that at the time. The room seemed like a standard room. We have not long been in Europe in many hotels, including several Ibis, and this did not seem to be 5-star.
