Novotel is in good location, the bed could be angled towards the lake rather than other hotel rooms. To improve service: some of the desk staff waited for me to approach the desk before looking up to greet me. I approached the desk several times for different reasons and a couple of the staff must have known I was walking in from the front door, but kept their heads down, I waited for them to look up. The Māori staff member was the opposite on her shift and most helpful. I noticed 526 the room near the lift had a dessert plate with the words Congratulations sitting on a tray outside the room for quite some time it had not covering to protect from flies or passing dust from shoes in the corridor. 1) it was unhygienic if it was left there for the guest 2) when I mentioned to reception, she didn't seem to interested, said staff would take it but the staff in the corridor had not taken it. Poached eggs, one was hard the other not, presented wet. Just feedback from someone in the industry up north staying one night. Was good to have the Tesla charger around the back.

It was okay. Cleaners scanned a card and walked into our room, while we still using it. Breakfast was not at all worth the money, and the actual water to our room was cut off during our stay. Apart from that the staff we friendly, the place was nice, clean and in a great location.
