We are 2 Heartist that working for Ibis and Novotel WLG and were having our quick getaway with friends in Rotorua to celebrate our anniversary. As we only had 2 days off to enjoy so we had driven from WLG at 4am just so we can enjoy our time in Rotorua as much as we could. We aware that we were early on check in around 11 so we left to see friends and called back to check if the room was ready around 12. and Yes the room was ready for us. On check in, unsure what your procedures was but all info we given were room number with 2 keys and how to get to the room. No wifi, Rotorua attractions, parkings info, spa use, restaurant hours or even breakfast timings was told on check in. Despite me being stayed with you guys before that I knew those thing, my partner was not. So she was unhappy at first. However, we needed to head out. In the afternoon, we came back to take a break, we noticed there was fruit platter which delivered in a tray kept on the desk WITH NOTHING WRITTEN saying why that was there and whether it was for us or not. Being working under the same group, we happened to know that was what we did the same to our guest BUT we did it with note saying welcome and enjoy. Second thing to disappoint. We headed out for dinner and drinks with our friends and came back around 11am. We walked pass reception and asked for 1 dental kit on our way to the room. All we received was the 'dental kit'. No smile or at least a HELLO word was given from the receptionist. We were both hungry but it was late and we were unable to drive due to heavy drinking so we decided to order room service. We called and someone on the other side of the line said there was NO CHEF so no food was available at all for the whole night. We were stunt. Nothing else was given in return. We ended up risking ourselves head out to drive to McDonald for food or else he would sleep hungry. We did notice F&B staff were still in the restaurant on our way out. My partner works for Novotel WLG and even she was taught how to make basic food (at lease fries or wedges) if any guests called for food during night time. Third thing to disappoint. On check out, at least the man who gave my partner the receipt was nice enough to ask where we heading to and wished us a safe trip home. Big thank you to the lady in dress who served us at the bar with a lovely smile and attention even though bar is already closed by the time we got back at night. Being 2 Heartist working under the same group, we were guided to treat our guests equally with attention and welcome attitude. But we were wondering if Heartist is only available in our properties??? Novotel has its FEEL WELCOME slogan but we did not 'FEEL WELCOME' at all during our time there. We did not expect much as we was not spending much time in the hotel but at least a smile would brighten a small moment. Overall, we did not have any eager to use any of your service apart from the bar and room to sleep (obviously). We left with disappointment and un-welcome feeling to WLG..... so sad to say so!!

Not suitable for a family as families prefer bigger room with some lounge, etc.

Really good location and clean and tidy place. but the staff at reception is not good in hospitality field. They takes a looooong time to check in and similar long time at check out too. we booked through Accor plus membership and our discount was not accounted on invoice, when we inquire only, they corrected it. and it again took another 10 mints. Since we booked through same package, the system should aware of our membership etc.

Enjoyed our family stay at Rotorua Novotel as always and especially this time with my parents in law joining us. We all loved the spa, our room and the buffet breakfast. However, a bit disappointed with our dinner buffet as I could see there were scaled down on some of the food selections compared to my previous visits especially the dessert. Also, would like to see staff taking the empty plates away.

Very well located, close to the lake and the restaurant area of Rotorua, great views plenty of parking

room not ready till 3 , service very average, tv not working, only 2 towels in the room, no towels in the pool area. front desk not the most welcoming. I stay in NOVOTEL a lot. over 100 stays in Christchurch and maybe 50 at Wellington. This was a poor representation of the brand

First Stay at Rotorua Novotel

There were a few issues, firstly we ordered a room for 4 which had a king bed and naturally assumed we would get a sofa but had to request this. Again the room was only set up for 2 people despite 4 people being on the order. If we couldnt have 4 in the room it shouldnt have shown on the search or allowed us to book it with 4. The room was tidy but not set up for 4 but that was okay. My partner found the bed to be on a lean and very unsatisfactory and had a poor sleep. However, the Staff were all very polite and appeared happy and that made us enjoy our stay more. Despite the issues with our Booking the staff remained professional at all times and did their best to assist. Parking was diabolical and we did feel unsafe having to leave our car on the roadside and not in the carpark. There was simply no room to find a park at any time we were there apart from when we turned up at 14:00hrs. The real highlight was the buffet breakfast. This had lots of lovely options which were all fresh and well presented and serving staff were friendly and helpful. While my partner wouldnt go back for the room she would for the breakfast. This was the saving grace as well as the friendly staff. Cheers Jeff S.

We arrived with our children late Wednesday night to find that there was no bed made up for them or even any bedding for us to make up the foldout bed ourselves. We were all tired from our trip and it made things difficult not being able to put our kids to bed as soon as we got to the room. Our bathroom sink was leaking all over the floor & our spare towels & it took two requests/visits from maintenance to get it fixed. We were also disappointed to find that free Wifi was no longer included & we only had the option of paying $10 per day or $40 for the week.

Our three generation family loved our stay. The staff in all areas were thoughtful and lovely. The food suited us all. The pool, although small, was enough to keep the children content. It was the main reason we chose this hotel, in different times we would have travelled out of NZ to a warmer climate where the children could play all day in a warm pool. The circus and fairground across the road the week we were there was an added bonus to the great location.
