Not OK was the toilet illumination that was activated with a motion sensor instead of a switch. This meant that disposing of that Belgium beer from last night would wake up your wife and blind your sleep filled micro-pupils with a floodlight glare that snapped you out of any sweet dreams you might have had. Just turn the fluorescent tube a few degrees before you go to bed so the light does not activate. The room is very small with no hooks or useable side tables. The basin and shower facilities are basically open and in the middle of the room but none of this is particularly bothering especially as the price is OK. The breakfast is also OK especially for the price (€10). Tea, coffee, breads, cold cuts, cerials and warm scrambled eggs. Location is excellent as we come by train. The hotel uses the same parking lot that the day tourists have to use anyway as basically no private cars can enter the town.

Let's get the obvious out of the way; Ibis Budget Brugge/Bruges is a value hotel. As others have said the toilet door is flimsy, the shower is in the room, there isn't much space and the breakfast is cold continental. You are getting a value break, they aren't trying to hide that. However, we found the room, the lobby and the breakfast hall to be clean. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and efficient. The breakfast, while cold, had fruit, yoghurt, bread, pastries, cheese, meat, cereal, tea, coffee and juice. There was certainly enough to choose from, and you could have as much or as little as you want. As a party of 2 adults and one young-ish child the room was just big enough for a long weekend, and our daughter loved sleeping in the bunk over our heads. The WiFi worked fine, and the TV offered channels in at least Dutch, French and English (it's a small room, you're probably going to want the TV on while one of you is using the facilities!) There is no room in the room for a kettle and tea/coffee, but you can buy it downstairs in the lobby. This is the only thing I think could be improved; maybe have one of the breakfast tea/coffee machines in the lobby for no charge for guest throughout their stay. The real benefit of the hotel though is its close proximity to the station and the centre of Bruges. The parking in the multistorey is relatively cheap, but it's easy to access by train or bus too. Then you can easily hop on a bus into the centre, or take a ten minute walk if the weather is nice and you are able. I don't think you can beat the Ibis for value, the location is perfect, and it does everything that it claims to.

Convenient location near station though somewhat tricky to find the entrance if you walk from the station. The room was tiny with a strange layout, and little space for luggage and hanging coats up and no towel rails. The floor was not particularly clean, But the bed was clean and comfortable. The hotel was very full so breakfast rush was chaotic and reception staff quite impersonal.

The hotel was what we expected. Good location, just by the station, and 15 minutes walk to the city centre. The room was small but enough space for 2 people and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was okay. Not any cooked food, but nice bread and ham cheese etc. Wifi worked very well, very fast.

The positive: hot water, clean room, efficient staff. Otherwise, really tiny room, shower in the room, toilet separated by almost a door (smells invite themselves in the room), noisy ventilation, noise insulation less than zero, accessibility very relative, medium bedding and pillow very thin. To two people, it is impossible. All this for more than 100€ while I left a luxury hotel in the heart of Rotterdam that had cost me little more, what a contrast! I'm sure never to go back.
