This was my second stay at this hotel, and I returned with confidence—only to bitterly regret it. I had booked two rooms and a parking space for my car, expecting a comfortable stay. Instead, what I got was one of the worst hospitality experiences of my life. The moment I stepped into the room, I was overwhelmed by an unbearable stench of cigarette smoke. At first, I assumed it was just a bad odor coming from the heating system, so I turned off the fan, opened the window, and tried to settle in. However, after just a short time, I realized that the smell was so overpowering that even my coat, hanging on the rack, had begun to absorb it. It was suffocating. Realizing that staying in this room was simply not an option, I went to the reception and politely requested a room change. What happened next was beyond shocking. The receptionist, with an attitude of absolute indifference and not even a hint of empathy, coldly told me that they could refund the price of the room—but only if I left. No apology, no attempt to resolve the issue, just a blatant dismissal. I was stunned. I reminded them that I had booked two rooms, that my car was parked at their hotel, and that simply refunding one room was not a solution. What was I supposed to do? Wander the streets of Vienna at night looking for another hotel at the last minute? I had booked well in advance, and now I was being told, with zero concern, that I was on my own. Despite my reasonable arguments, the receptionist just kept repeating the same scripted response, like a broken record, refusing to take any responsibility. Not once did they say, "We’re sorry for the inconvenience." Not once. Frustrated, I reached out to Booking.com customer service, who were incredibly professional and understanding. They tried to contact the hotel, but—surprise, surprise—the hotel ignored their calls. I also sent a message through the Booking.com app, only to receive a dismissive, borderline insulting response. They insisted that the reception had done "everything possible," but the truth is, they had done absolutely nothing. What makes this situation even more infuriating is that IBIS has multiple hotels in Vienna. If a hotel is overbooked or unable to provide the service a guest has paid for, the professional and ethical solution is to relocate them to another IBIS property at the hotel's expense. But instead, they left me to deal with the problem myself, completely disregarding their duty to provide basic customer service. I have traveled to many places, stayed in countless hotels, but never—never—have I experienced such a disgraceful level of service. I genuinely believe that an AI-powered self-check-in system would have been more compassionate and professional than the staff at this hotel. The people working here have no business being in the hospitality industry. Their lack of basic human decency is appalling. I strongly urge everyone to avoid this hotel at all costs. If you encounter even the slightest issue, do not expect any help, sympathy, or professionalism. All you will get is arrogance, hostility, and indifference. And the worst part? You’ll be paying for the privilege of being treated like you don’t matter.

i had a very uncomfortable situation at Ibis ST Marx in Vienna I booked online a room for 2 nights at Ibis st Marx whith a Credit Card of my wife. Arriving at the Hotel , i Paid cash 2 Night at the reception . Said allso to the Guy that i book online , so please be careful. They took the Payment Cash for 2 night and also took from my Creditcard the amount of money for 2 night , so practicallyi paid for 4 nights but slept ony 2 night. I wrote to Ibis, they admit that they had tooken the money twice but newer retuned to mee the amount. i think that's a criminal behaver I will never go again back to any Ibis Hotel

Great price, very friendly and helpful staff. 5 minute walk from supermarket, Gasometer station and very helpful with a day trip to Budapest! Room is very basic but I’m not sure what more you could need for a city break. Beds were also surprisingly comfortable.

Pros: Helpful front desk staff. Let us check in early. 5 min walk to gasometer subway station., 20 min ride to city center Good price Billa grocery store 1 min walk away Cons: -room is like a prison cell, most basic amenities -no.hair dryer available for 2 days of our stay, they ration them out between the rooms -wifi did not work in room entire stay, causing us to pay more for our data roaming package Overall: -for the time it takes you to walk to subway and get to city center (40min roundtrip) I would skip this hotel and get something closer to the action No compensation for wifi not working, not even free breakfast offered...

Not a high class hotel and they do not advertise it as such. Hotel is very clean with friendly staff at reception. Check in was fast. Hotel has an undergroung parking garage for normal price 14€ for 24h. Room is not very big. Sink is inside room, with separate WC and separate shower. Room is very clean. Breakfast was good with pretty good choice.
