I booked a one night stay at The Ibis this weekend as I was in town for a friends stag party. We were all staying at different hotels and this one came up at one of the cheapest, closest to where we were going to be. I generally like Ibis as I think they offer good value for money. I checked in early afternoon and was greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff. The reception area and breakfast area are very modern and nicely presented. You have to swipe a key card to get absolutely anywhere in this property, even to the toilet. I get that security is important but found this to be super inconvenient and really quite annoying. It’s an old outdated building but the common areas are nice and fresh. I had a standard double room on the 7th floor. It was nice and quiet and had all the amenities I needed. The only thing was that it was very outdated and shabby looking. I didn’t think it was worth £110 per night and would have expected better for this. Whilst it was clean and easily accessible, I don’t think that it was value for money on this occasion and would not stay there again for that price. Especially as breakfast is extra on top of that. The hotel doesn’t offer any parking, but the car park directly opposite allowed me to park for 24 hours for only £8, which was incredibly convenient for me.

Booked 5 rooms for family trip to the Arena. It is approx 20 min walk but necessary to negotiate pedestrian steps / bridges to cross busy road - we ended up hurdling a barrier as we went wrong! Car park right opposite is paid via PayByPhone app and cost us approx £13 for 24hrs (cheaper if you arrive later). Hotel great for an overnighter. Bathroom larger than other similar hotels I have stayed in. The bar/restaurant had a nice atmosphere & was open late with the option of pizza, garlic bread & other snacks until late. Staff really friendly.

Reception is super approchable with staff being friendly. Rooms are basic but do the job, can't complain! If you are worried about security, you need a key fob to have access to the floors, and you have a key to your hotel on top of that. A solid budget hotel.

Just avoid this old, uncomfortable run down hotel that’s living in the 90s. The rooms are way too warm and u comfortable. So much so that you can either choose to have the risk. Fan on and get a sore throat from it or have the window open and get no sleep as theres a busy dual carriage way 9 floors down that sounds like a your sleeping next to a busy runway. (Or trying to anyway) The bathroom facilities were rubbish and it’s like they tried to be a low cost hotel and hip with these rubbish pod style bathrooms but failed damn awful! Mattresses are u comfortable and are basically dirty mattresses with a bit of foam on the top and I can tell you they don’t clean between the foam toppers and the beds, Disgusting! The cups left in the room are off white and look dirty… that or they are old. I got back from work at 11pm to get a new key cut as mine stopped working. The reception machine didn’t work at cutting keys on the left side because it’s “not working” so went The other one…. Now that would have been fine if I hadn’t then grabbed a cigarette from my room and had a cigarette for 5 minutes outside to then be asked by a security guard for my room number to get back to my room. Not only did I bloody walk past them with my room key in hand but they saw me leave!!! Absolutely pathetic! Never in my life have I needed to verify with an outdoor contractor my personal details to get back into my room when I have the damn key to it! I go downstairs at 3am as I still can’t sleep… guess what…. I’m asked my room number again despite being one of three guests in the lobby and again coming from the lift area with my room key! Why not just lock the front doors like most hotels?! The tv sound is so tinny, it’s like it’s coming from inside an empty plastic box inside a bathroom it’s that bad quality. 9 is too quiet and far away but 10 is unlistenable as it’s tinny and hollow sounding! Maybe some investment? Making a cup of tea with the world’s worst kettles too! Urgh, I hated everything about this hotel. The reception (apart from the young blonde lad who re-cut my key) is all pretty rude. He tbh was friendly and polite. The hotels awful. There’s a premier inn over the road… I’d recommend that which is better value, comfier and more pleasant. I’ve nothing good to say about my stay here and I’d quite like a refund from the two nights of no sleep if I’m honest…. It’s basically a glorified overpriced prison room / nursing home except not as clean.

We were very impressed with the quality of the hotel given the price - so don’t be put off thinking the price reflects the standard of the hotel. The rooms were well laid out- not big but enough space for a couple. The bed was comfortable and the shower was also good. Room was clean - and you even get biscuits which is always a good measure of a hotel for me!
