An overnight stay before heading to the airport next morning. It's a budget accommodation and does look that way. Can't fault the staff though - they're excellent and we met a young lady on reception from New Zealand who was very helpful. The room is adequate - but I'm 6ft4in and 120kg so the facilities were a real struggle - very similar to an airplane in being cramped. For that alone I downgraded the rating - bed was comfortable - but the shower (i had to contort myself). However, for convenience the hotel is fine

The Ibis was fine for a flying, one-night visit. We were in town for the Canberra Marathon so we were barely there, arriving late and leaving early. For our purposes, this was a cheap, practical option. THE ROOM This is definitely a budget hotel but it says so in the name so it shouldn’t be a surprise. Everything in the room is basic and utilitarian. It’s spacious enough to stow bags and move around easily but it’s spartan. There are coffee and tea making facilities and a small bar fridge but no wardrobe (although there are a few coat hangers on a short pole that sticks out from the wall - again, this is probably all that’s needed if you are only staying one night). The small bathroom was not great. The shower is one of those old tile fibreglass pods with no shower curtain (so your clothes get wet) and no handbasin in the bathroom (the basin is across the other side of the room). STAFF/SERVICE The helpful, friendly staff were a real plus. At check in, they were very welcoming and took the trouble to explain everything we might need to know. They were also accommodating, letting us have a late check-out the next day for post-marathon showers and opening the closed breakfast room so we could sit there for a while. LOCATION The hotel is right on the outskirts of the city. It’s handy for the airport but not for sight-seeing in the city. It’s OK if you have a car but there are no restaurants or cafes within walking distance. PARKING Do not pay for parking. We paid $5 for parking when we booked the room online but there was no allocated spot. Instead the large car park is open to anyone so there was no need at all to have paid for a spot. NOTE: There are actually three Ibis Hotels in Canberra so be careful to check the location to avoid any confusion over the booking.

The room we stayed in was elementary which was fine for an overnight stay. The bathroom appeared to be some sort of pod that had hair in it from the previous customer. There was no shower curtain so the floor got drenched. The ladder which led up to the top bunk was covered in what looked like coke. The basin to wash your hands was located on the other side of the room and not in the bathing pod.

Booked in the first nite they couldn't find our booking plus the women managers pick favourites in the motel they don't trust anyone who books a room in there motel and not close to shops at all they don't warn customers at all you need a car in the location

It is conveniently located if travelling from the north, but not many amenities nearby. The rooms are small and functional for a good night's sleep, but the hotel is a little tired and can do with a revamp. There is one small common area for breakfast behind the check-in desk, but there is no real space to hang out other than a tiny room, and it's too far out of the centre to walk in. The staff are amazing, so helpful and friendly, and I really felt welcome.

I empathize with your feedback surrounding the size of the rooms - the rooms are definitely on the 'cozy' side and can be a bit uncomfortable with multiple people for multiple nights, though I am glad to hear that it at least did the trick in terms of providing a clean and comfortable place to stay at a budget price. If you need that little bit more space for when you next return to Canberra, may I suggest one of the three Ibis Styles properties that reside in ACT - Ibis Styles Eaglehawk, Ibis Styles Tall Trees or Ibis Styles Canberra. All three have competitive rates, but the rooms are little larger! On the positive side, I am delighted to hear that you felt welcome and that our staff were friendly and helpful!
