Disappointed - No heating

The room was very good, and the hotel overall was clean and well-maintained. In many aspects, it met expectations. However, I was disappointed that the heating in the room was not working. While the staff tried to compensate by providing a small electric heater, this is not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. Heating is a basic feature that should be functioning properly, even in hotels with no star rating.”

Very happy with this hotel, perfectly located on the bus line between Alexander pl and Potsdamer pl (200) Supermarket, u-bahn and a couple of good restaurants in close proximity too Good selection at breakfast and room was spacious by European standards with a queen size bed and a sofa Friendly staff (as one should expect). Bonus: they had umbrellas we could borrow when it rained

This Novotel is well located in Berlin, on Fisher Island, about a five-minute walk from the Spittelmarkt U-Bahn station. I had a single room on the seventh floor. It had a single bed and a narrower cot-type bed to the side, but unfortunately they couldn't be pulled alongside each other to make a larger bed because of the nightstand in between. Having said that, the bed was pretty comfortable. Peculiarly, the bathroom was nearly as big as the room. There was a shower, which was separated from the rest of the bathroom by just a curtain, which meant risking getting water all over the floor, a washstand, toilet, and room left over for maybe three bathtubs. The temperature in the room ran warm-ish and could not really be adjusted with the thermostat, though the fan could. I liked the loud hum of the fan because I cannot sleep well in dead-silent hotel rooms. There was the basic Ibis-style open wardrobe, a desk, minibar, and very large TV - on which the sole English news channel appeared to be Sky News, somewhat oddly. There was no acknowledgement of Accor status, and no welcome drink was provided - unless the soft drink in the room counted as one. An energy bar that, frankly, tasted awful, was the other "welcome amenity". No drinking water is provided (except in the minibar), nor are slippers. The toiletries are by decent, by Rituals. Speaking of no welcome drink, when I checked in, the person who did the checking in looked at me as if I was something that crawled out from under a rock. Smiles were conspicuously absent also from the faces of most staff at breakfast. My first day in the hotel, it was full, given it was the weekend of the Berlin marathon, but it eased out after that, and it was easy to get a table at breakfast. Breakfast itself was a proper extensive spread and very good. Also good was housekeeping, who cleaned the room every day without fail - though I wish there was the option to skip some days, like in other Accor hotels. Overall, decent. Would I stay here again? Probably, if the price was right, for the breakfast and location.

I think this hotel has rated itself 4 star because of its amenities like gym, car park and restaurant. However the rooms are fairly basic, not unlike a Premier Inn. Furniture is a bit cheap, bed is very low but mattress is comfortable although the pillows aren’t. Bathroom is wheelchair accessible with open shower, although this means that when you use it the whole room gets wet. We didn’t try the hotel restaurant as it had bad reviews and was always deserted when we passed. Hotel staff were pleasant and stored our bags for us after check out.

Here is the translation: The hotel is well located, with supermarkets around, and bus and subway stops to all parts of the city. The staff is very polite, the breakfast is plentiful and very good, the room is spacious, the bathroom is good, and there is a large TV. What I can't fail to mention is the carpet in the room. It was the dirtiest, most disgusting, and worst-looking carpet I have ever seen in a hotel. Simply filthy. But everything else was fine.
