The staff are extremely pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent. The steak was cooked exactly as requested and nearly fell apart it was so tender. The location is great, go down in the lifts straight into Lambton Quay. I enjoyed a room upgrade and welcome gift on arrival.

excellent central location

I spent a long weekend in Wellington shopping with a group of girls. We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel as it was central to shopping and quick and easy to get ubers to go out for dinner. The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful

Waited 40 minutes for breakfast missing fruit and yoghurt had run out. Lifted receiver for phone in room and very dirty. No shower cap in bathroom. understaffed have been going there for years not sure I'll be going back. I would have have thought in these uncertain times service would have been better considering you cannot welcome overseas guests.

Room OK, Staff great. Food very average at best. No buffet breakfast!! due to COVID, Tick box breakfast Menu confused the kitchen staff so they decided to just give us a slice of toast. The quality of the food was simply dreadful and should not be served. Period. Staff very pleasant and friendly.

Loved the room. Staff were not versed well. One didn’t know about the pool. The other lady couldn’t sort my account. Otherwise great. The lift down to street needs cleaning. Not a good look as an entrance for the hotel.

Always a nice stay, handy to everything on either The Terrace or Lambton Quay, rooms are clean and tidy. Food of good quality, and beds are really comfortable. Staff are friendly. Breakfasts are good.

I stayed overnight for business. The room was well appointed and clean. The staff were helpful. As an Accor club member, I received a free welcome drink which was appreciated. The room had a harbour view, a desk, large bed, flat screen TV. The bathroom was nicely furnished although not super-new, with a shower over a bath - I have no complaints though. Only thing missing - a nespresso coffee machine in the room

Such a convenient place to stay for central Wellington. The service and cleanliness of the hotel was spot on. The only slight negative was the price of the breakfasts seemed a bit high but not a problem as plenty of options nearby. Will definitely stay there whenever in Wellington.

People care, but the hotel needs some work

Firstly, the air conditioning doesn't work and the windows don't open. So the room is very hot and it's hard to sleep. They offered a fan, but all that really did was blow the hot air around the room. ALl other rooms were the same, so it appears to be a central problem. Next, the WIFI is very poor and keeps dropping out. If you're planning on working online, I wouldn't bother. Lastly, the "Same Day" laundry service is actually Next Day. Other than that the rooms are clean and tidy, the food is good and the people friendly. There are foundation issues as described above however.

Novotel Wellington is a very good hotel with great amenities situated centrally on the Terrace within easy location to the waterfront, the cable car and stadium and central shopping amenities on Lambton Quay. Their is very limited parking but access to a parking lot next door is handy. Not much of a view even though we were located on the 10th floor, just overlooking the Terrace and similarly sized buildings surrounding. Staff were great, rooms were clean and food was good. I would say I only had a problem with the cost, so booking in advance (except for events) is not the best option as the rates were significantly lower during our stay. The duty manager did his best to help out within his limited power given the massive difference.

Great staff, great food, amazingly comfortable beds & pillows, spotless rooms & bathrooms, centrally located. Just a short walk to everything you need. One of our top Hotels and its why we keep coming back. AWESOME !!!!!!!!!

When we phoned to book rooms we book a parking spot and on arrival was told that it's a first come first served bases to get a car park. Front of house guy was not very help full on arrival. Was also not told that the buffet breakfast was only continental and hot food had to be ordered ( one serving). Rooms were good except ledges and air vents not dusted.

Disappointing

Our previous stay was fraught with problems. We complained to management and were told that on our next stay, things would be put right. We emailed the manager two weeks before this stay to let them know we were coming back. Well, that was a waste of time, nothing special was done for us, and our room was worse than last time. Also, we were charged for coffee each day at breakfast, even though we signed no approval. As Accor Platinum members, we have always received complimentary coffee with our breakfast in Novotel hotels in NZ. There were some positives, the bed was comfortable, food at lunch and dinner was good and the location is superb. It was just disappointing not to have had things put right after our last stay

Great location, walking distance to cable cars, water front and variety of restaurants. Great sleep, love the variety of pillows available, we noticed no sirens going off at all hours of the night, gym compact but has what you need.

Staff need Training

While the location and room itself is amazing and most staff are friendly we had several issues. 1. No car parking, staff did not really inform us of our options and it ended up costing us $80 and a ticket. 2. I forgot to put do not disturb sign on door hence at 8.30am a staff member must have knocked but I did not hear her. I was standing there half clothed and she proceeded to try to speak to me. I had to tell her to get out until I had dressed. Train your staff to be more careful about peoples privacy. This also happened on our first day so staff member should have been informed not to disturb us at that time of the morning. 3. We had an evening meal with family in the restaurant. The staff were inattentive, although we were on the later side. Our fish was badly over cooked - we ate it because we were hungry. We were not offered dessert menus. In fact a very poor meal. In the morning we had breakfast and found a hair in the honey, otherwise the breakfast was fine - but overpriced.

The receptionist didn’t check my details properly! I had to ask for the welcome drinks vouchers! I actually paid a lot to be a member! I wouldn’t employ myself the receptionist who checked me out as she was so unfriendly!

Great location Central city Friendly and helpful team. There is a lift which goes down and directly into the downtown part of the city and cable car tram station. Easy walk to the waterfront Te Papa and the Beehive.

We had a good time staying here. The staff were very helpful. The manager also too great care of parking or SUV with roof box and bike rack. Breakfast was very good. Good value. Better with accor membership. Good access to city center and the botanic gardens.

Regular guest - a bit disapointed

I arrived Friday night to a massive garlic and curry smell throughout the Lobby restaurant, guest lifts and lifts to Lambton Quay. The cafe Relish in the mall was cooking commercial quantities of curry - in kitchen facilities not equipped for this. The chef at the hotel confirmed he could smell it. The door onto the quay closes at 10pm and I was locked out. The Reception staff told me the key card lock has not worked for over a month so guests can't use the short cut. Thankfully at 10:30pm as I am a regular guest I knew that I needed to go to the James Cook entrance. But Reception said that the Hotel lock people and building manager of the mall have not organized themselves to fix the issue. Reception staff are NEVER at the desk ready to greet guests on approach. You always have to walk to the desk and wait for them to appear. Very poor! why not?
