Good stay option near by all historical landmarks. Room was good. Lift was not good enough due to sudden shakes. Breakfast had a variety of options. Booking taxi was available on reception. It was also connected with public transport which was near by.

The Novotel was the perfect location in Edinburgh with easy walks to the castle, grass market and the Royal Mile. The staff were helpful and courteous and the rooms were nicely appointed. We had breakfast every morning in the restaurant with a nice assortment of healthy and yummy options. The bar was perfect for relaxing at the end of the day.

very nice situation for the Hotel. It’s great to meet Ackthar he speak french also and he explain the breakfast and also goods idea the visit Édimbourg and around. We are happy to be in this hotel. the room are clean also and the breakfast was fantastic.

There was one particular breakfast waitress called Magda who couldn’t do enough for you unlike others who were rude and didn’t care. The receptionists are also friendly and very helpful with any queries we had, even accommodating my wife’s medication that needed to be in a cold fridge. During our week’s stay, not once was our room hoovered or had enough towels and toilet rolls for all in our room. The hotel is ideally situated a short walk away from the castle and royal mile.

I'm a big fan of Accor and a 'Classic' member of their loyalty programme and I never hesitate to book one of their hotels (Novotel or Mercure). So, it was no great surprise to find that this fits the model, with spacious rooms, a great reception experience (well done team), and very conveniently located. Walking distance from the centre of Edinburgh and the Old Town, we were able to walk back from a night out with friends. The Tap bar was an absolute highlight with friendly and efficient staff, good value drinks, free musical entertainment in the evening (he was very good), and able to supply pizza's once the main restaurant had closed (and they were good too). We had intended to try the pool but never managed it although it looked good. All plus points. Sadly, there were one or two negatives. Our room overlooked the rear courtyard and was quite warm. Opening the windows however was impossible due to a 24 hour and noisy whining fan such that it was impossible to sleep with the window open. To be fair, with the windows closed it was fine, but the room ventilation (not aircon) couldn't cope and we had to use the fan (supplied) pretty much all the time. Second, whilst the breakfast quality is very high (the haggis a particular highlight ;-) ) it is a bit chaotic and poorly laid out. Moreover, the carpet is starting to look pretty grim around the food dispensing area and needs replacing. The hot drinks machines do not supply decaf coffee which is just by way of a powder sachet and hot water, and the juice pump is pretty average - fresh orange juice it is not. I had cause to use the toilets by the pool and they need some repairs. Overall, we had a good stay and we felt secure and looked after, but it didn't quite make 5 stars despite the efforts of the staff who were all impeccable.
