Water temperature in shower veried dramatically from cold to scolding to no water at all. At check in I was told of the availability of additional benefits as a rewards member. However I was later told that those were not available because they didn’t have enough guests

Unfriendly and false promises

By checking in the front desk employee was extremely unfriendly and very taciturn. The first remark was that I did not have a reservation under y name. I explained to the receptionist that I had done the reservation under my married name, which is clearly marked on my ID card. Next question was, "when will your husband show up" ? A question which was more than superflues, as I was travelling on my own. Apparently this is not normal when you check in at the Sofitel Athens Airport!!! As I had a stay of ONLY 5 hours (arrival 23.00 + / checkout 04:00) I asked if there would be a possibility for a half day rate where the answer was that this is only possible during day time!!! Furthermore the receptionist advised me that she could not make such a decision, that this could only be done by the manager. So I asked to see the manager. Response from the receptionist: He will anyway tell you the same thing !!! As I insisted she finally called him and I waited approximately 15 minutes before he showed up. As a matter of fact he gave me the same information but mentioned that as a courtesy he could offer my a breakfast box upon check out at 04.00 am. My wake-up call at 4am was punctual and 2 minutes later room service knocked at my door to bring me the breakfast box. However there was a big surprise as the very nice guy told me that I would have to pay 25 Euros for the breakfast box. When I told him that the manager had been talking about a courtesy, he called "somewhere" and at the end of the call he advised me that I could have the box for 17 Euros only!!!! I then told him that I would not take the breakfast box and I finally left the Hotel at 04:15am. This was definitely the worst experience I ever had with a Sofitel. Furthermore I would like to mention that I am Gold card member and Airline staff as well. What also surprised me that upon check-in the lady at the reception did not even ask for my Airline ID as I had been granted an airline discount. This has been my first and it has definitely been my last stay at the Sofitel Airport Hotel, as I always appreciate good and friendly service, which was definitely not the case there.

As confirmed by our Duty Manager, day-use rates are available during a specific time frame in the day. However, you were able to benefit from the beneficial rate granted to airline staff which you had already accepted and confirmed at the time of the booking. Additionally, as per the Greek law and also for our guests' safety, we have to always cross-check all elements regarding our guests' reservation and that is the procedure followed by our receptionist. On the other hand, we are really sorry for the misunderstanding occurred with the breakfast box that was kindly offered by our Duty Manager and thank you once again for your precious feedback that helps us better understand your expectations. Not the same hotel,to start the personal in the front desk is not friendly,the bar have no service,many waiters talking g ea h other and ignored my pretense,before we were able with our drinks peanut or potato chips,not any more.very expensive for what we can get now

Great for connecting flights

This hotel is fantastic to stay one night for connecting flights. The accommodations are great and the quality of the food is good. Right next to the airport. Not close to Athens but you can always take a cab.
