Worst Sofitel Experience I’ve had

For the past year I’ve exclusively stayed at the Sofitel when visiting Chicago either for work or pleasure. This stay at the hotel was the WORST I’ve ever had. And it has now made me reconsider my future stays in April, May & June at the hotel. There was internet issues at the hotel every day of my stay. I communicated this to the front desk every day. On the second day, I was greeted by a front desk manager who was rude and entitled to me. Forgot his name. A skinny thin man with short blonde hair. I had not seen this person during my previous stays. I asked to speak to the GM of the hotel, Sven Richter. He never contacted me. Not sure if the message was even given to Sven. Just pathetic customer service. I’m going to reach out to the Sofitel corporate office associated with G6 Hospitality to communicate my frustration with the Sofitel in Chicago. Not sure if I will ever stay at the hotel again. The internet issues are one thing, but the rudeness and entitlement of the front desk people I will not stand for considering I’ve been a great and consistent guest at the hotel for a long time.

Not 5 star worthy. Lobby is tiny and not many places to sit down and relax within the property. Service was below average. When we checked in, we had asked 2 questions about what was included in our rate and after hearing their response to those questions we were left with more questions. They talked in circles and were very confusing and weren't able to answer the question. The rooms are fine (it's small but clean). However, nothing special about it and definitely not 5 star. When we ordered room service, they messed up our order and food wasn't great. The chicken dish we had was like rubber. Also, they gave themselves $5 extra in tip than what we had initially given (what we had initially given was considered standard ) for the room service order and there was already service charge included on top of that as well. The next day, while I was waiting for the room to be cleaned, I took a look at their "market" in lobby for beverage and snacks. For some reason, they decide to lock the fridge and you have to wait in line for front desk to open it for you. It seems they don't trust guests if they need to lock the snacks and beverages with a physical lock. Overall, it was a below average to average stay. Location is good but there are much better hotels in the area with much better service. For short term, this hotel is fine but I wouldn't want to stay here long term and won't be coming back.
