We needed a last-minute alternative and the location was convenient, but the experience at reception was deeply unsettling. The receptionist’s behaviour showed multiple red-flag indicators one would associate with opportunistic or deceptive conduct: it took him over 20 minutes to check us in while his colleague processed three other guests. First he “couldn’t find” the booking, then the system was allegedly slow, then he insisted we must pre-pay at a price that was clearly higher than our confirmed reservation. Only when challenged did he correct it. We also paid for a three-course dinner and breakfast but were given no proof of payment. Later, when we spoke to the bar staff about coming for supper in two hours, the receptionist left his desk, interrupted the conversation, pulled the barman behind a curtain, and the barman then re-emerged saying we needed no ticket and should speak directly to him when ready to eat. Evening food was not great. However, the breakfast was better, except for the coffee-undrinkable even with milk. Tea was good. The rooms were small but clean and the windows can be opened. All other staff were polite and helpful, but the reception experience seriously undermined our trust in the hotel.

Great massive rooms, quiet 🤫 sleep over in middle of the Bankside. Real good location as you have quite a few great places around it. Service was beautiful from the start to the end. Also, love the breakfast , we have a great choice and variety of food to eat and it is a little almost “all you can eat”. Price range are amazing.

I have used Mercure twice now for our large group bookings and they have been incredibly helpful organising both. Communication is clear and the team go above and beyond to ensure your event is successful. I have received only positive feedback from people who has stayed here and I will continue to reach out for all of our future accommodation needs. A great choice for anyone staying in London.

Needs better cleaning

I've stayed in this hotel many times over the last few years, and only actually complained the very first time when the shower screen let water drain all over the bathroom floor. It seems it may have a new management team as not one single email has been responded to with only my 2nd ever complaint. However, as with the attached photos, the room needed a clean. Disgustingly dirty shelves, dirty cups and detritus on the floor. Maybe if management had replied, I'd have been given a reason for the state of the room, but they haven't....even when the complaints department of Accor say they have told them to respond. The dirt (as seen in the photos) was at lower than eye level and I can't understand how this is ever missed. It's obviously been building up for a long time.
