It was a bucket-list/wish list to stay at The Savoy. I was heavily influenced by the TV special “The Savoy at Christmas” on PBS. Don’t believe what you see on TV. The room I was in was not up to par to be a luxury room. It was big but dated. The bathroom was outdated, and the shower door leaked so there was always water everywhere. Breakfast at their main dining room (Thames Foyer) was atrocious and my server was a jerk. As we had the option to dine at the River Restaurant, we switched for the remaining for our trip. Their menu is limited but was excellent. The difference in the quality of food, service and plating is evident. The American Bar is okay with nice service. There is the library/lounge on the ground floor which has tea/coffee and limited wines. There is no place to get a drink or a snack in the hotel in general. (The Marriott across the river has a gorgeous bar.) I asked for a scone in the library as I was having tea in the afternoon. The answer was no and I was stunned – they then did me a favor to have provide me a scone (which I did pay for). There is no way to just get a scone without reserving the full afternoon tea?! Really? This is a shame as it’s LONDON and that’s what one does in the afternoon. Other guests at the hotel voiced similar concerns. I heard a table next to me order martinis and they were denied. Then they asked for the manager – and got martinis. I heard not once but twice that Claridge’s is a much better place to stay, and The Savoy hasn’t kept themselves up. I think The Savoy is riding the wave on their past reputation. Pros: The people there are really nice (other than said waiter mentioned above) but it seems their hands are tied from actually providing adequate service by the rules. Housekeeping was good. The pool is nice and warm though small. The Beaufort Bar is nice but only a late evening/night place to go for a drink. BEWARE: Upon check out, SURPRISE! The bill showed an additional charge of 25-26 pounds a day for service charges for housekeeping, bellman, etc. Why this amount varied daily is beyond me. Regardless, this should be discussed at check-in as an option and not sprung on at the end. I left money for tips as much as I could throughout my stay. I wonder if the staff see this money and how it’s distributed.

As always the Savoy and all of its staff made us feel super welcome special as always. From the valet parking and welcoming doormen to front desk staff, concierge, bar staff and house keeping, they were all faultless. We stayed in room 578 and it was just perfect. We wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else in London. The American and Beaufort bars are always lively and welcoming and the riverside breakfast was great as always. Can wait to come back in August 👍🏻

Stayed the weekend for my wife's birthday, blown away by the people behind the name, Savoy. Everyone we had the pleasure of encountering during our stay were fantastic hosts. A couple of things weren't quiet right on arrival, a few surprises were arranged for my wife given it was a special occasion which were unfortunately forgotten, first world problem and were all sorted immediately by Daniel. In recognition of these minor issues, our room was upgraded, a corner suite overlooking the Thames, pretty incredible. We were out on our first night (Abba Voyage, well worth a visit!!) but on the second night enjoyed the American Bar, fantastic pianist, great service but it was really busy, ate at the Savoy Grill, class setting, food perfect and service on point as people seem to say these days. Pool at the leisure club was awesome, had the place to ourselves! Ate breakfast in the main restaurant and fish restaurant, both very special, anything from the pastry chefs was off the scale, worth giving their Arnold Bennett signature dish a whirl but incredibly rich, so half portion suggested.

We had lunch at Gordon Ramsey restaurant the surroundings were fabulous staff very friendly and assertive the food was excellent Such a wonderful experience was had a day we will never forget the staff especially Klara and Klaudia were fabulous A wonderful experience

Chanique from In-House Reservations helped me as a travel agent so much with getting rooms that were right for my clients and that were close to each other! She was super friendly, professional, and easy to work with on this. She even offered to meet my clients and welcome them at the front desk when they checked in. Love this hotel.
