Nice hotell with good location

We were here 3 days. The staff was very friendly and everythibg went as planned. We did not visited gym or pool because lack of time. There is a very good breakfest. Location is excellent. You can walk to Southwark subway around 150 meters and also there is places to eat near by and foodstore also rigth next the subway. The room was clean and nice. Only noise came from the street at night because somebody had a personal party there for a while but it stopped right after I called to reception. Good quality hotel, would visit there in the future also.

Great Hotel if not a little overpriced

Pros - Location is excellent - you’re within walking distance to Waterloo, Blackfriars and Southwark stations you couldn’t ask for a better hub for the Southbank and central London. Covent Garden is easily walkable too. - Staff are absolutely superb - Rooms are to a high standard and very spacious - Bathrooms come with excellent toiletries and the monsoon shower is ideal. - The Fridge with complementary water is a nice bonus - The Switch to turn the glass between the shower and bedroom to frosted glass is quite a cool gimmick. It was quite odd but cool being able to see the bedroom from the shower. - 5pm checkout as a payable option is incredibly useful if you’re having a late night or want more time to explore the city. Cons - The open plan bathroom is a bit unconventional and may not be to everyone’s taste. In my room there was no door to separate the toilet from The rest of the bathroom. You can use sliding doors to close the overall bathroom door however. Whilst there is a switch to turn the glass between the bathroom and bedroom to frosted glass, I’m not convinced it would provide 100% privacy. It wasn’t an issue for me as I was staying solo, however if you’re staying with friends I’d consider staying elsewhere. - Be mindful of which side of the hotel you stay on. In all fairness, I didn’t ask for a view, but I was left overlooking the courtyard which was rather uninspiring. I’d ask at check in for a view if you can. - The 5pm checkout is a very expensive add on - on a Sunday night you’d be better off booking a premier inn for 2 nights and just leaving early - Tends to be rather expensive- they say you get what you pay for, but rooms in the adjoining Ibis tend to be a lot cheaper and you still get a perfectly reasonable product. Overall I’d say it’s the hotel is excellent and ideal if you want something a little more upmarket. Owing to the open plan bathrooms, I’d say it’s suitable for well acquainted couples or solo travellers only. Overall I’d happily stay again, but given the value for money, I’d only stay here if it was a bit of a treat, or if the prices were the same as the adjoining Ibis.

Really good hotel in a great location

Really good hotel in a great location. Close to Southwark tube station and a bus stop outside that goes direct to Kings Cross. Friendly staff made it a really pleasant stay. Clean and good breakfast. We would highly recommend and we will b back, if the price is good :).

Not so good on the small stuff

Interesting stay at the Novotel. Check in was a bit of a challenge as they still have their Covid screens in place so it's hard to hear the reception staff. Went to the bar before dinner for a drink and they didn't stock tomato juice so no Bloody Mary. Had dinner which was fine but was then overcharged and they added a discretionary service charge. When I asked for the money to be refunded the waiter said he couldn't do that but that I could have a drink on the house! Couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi, but this isn't just a Novotel issue as hotel Wi-Fi is typically not terrific. Bath towel had a 10cm long tear in it. Was asked at check out how my stay was and I get feedback about what are mostly (not the overcharging) minor issues. The receptionist was less than interested and offered no comment or suggested resolution. Overall it's a good modern hotel but the standards of operation are not what I think are acceptable.

Great hotel with good amenities for a family visit. Breakfast has something for everyone, even the pickiest of eaters (good when traveling with a 5 year old and 7 year old). It can get quite busy but the staff have everything under control. Front house staff extremely kind and friendly, knowledgeable. Pool and sauna was empty each time we used the facilities and everything was spotless and clean. The hot tub is out of order at the moment but it didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves! The room we had was clean and spacious but since we were 4 people (2 kids), the sofa was in the form of two single beds during our stay. I don’t think the room would have been big enough if we had been 4 adults. Nevertheless, it was more than enough for us. Housekeeping staff is also very kind and helpful. The only peculiar thing that we noted during our 5 day stay was that the rooms were not cleaned until quite late in the afternoons. This meant that housekeeping was at our door when we were in the room relaxing. Still, not a big deal as we got fresh towels and water. But if you enjoy taking a nap around 4 pm, you’re in for a surprise:-) The closest tube is literally to the right of the hotel (Southwark station, Jubilee line). The London eye, Borough market, South Bank, Shard, London bridge…are all within walking distance even for those with small kids. A fun trip and will definitely come back!
