This is a nice hotel located on a quiet stretch of 44th near Times Square and Grand Central. I was upgraded to a suite, and it was very large and comfortable, with a large desk, a strong wifi signal and a decent number of outlets. Service was consistently top notch too. I will happily return.

Filthy hotel with indifferent front desk staff

I have never stayed in a Sofitel, indeed, any Accor hotel like this one, from Ibis to Sofitel & Fairmount. The floors and carpeting were filthy, there were no slippers ready for me—I had to ask four different people before I received them. I tried to get change to too various clerks, as all I had were euros and hundreds and ran around the hotel, with no one offering me any assistance. There is nothing about the hotel which relays a “comfortable” much less luxurious stay. Front desk staff were cold and indifferent, housekeeping did their best with what they had. I guess now I understand why my French friends and colleagues snickered when I told them I was staying there, in part because of the lingering associations with DSKs visit, and the absolute filthy accommodations. Thai’s tag makes me question my loyalty to the Accor brand.

Rooms need upgrading

First room allocated was not clean and very dowdy. Smaller than booked. Changed room much better but in need of new carpet, paint and upgrade.

I had never been to New York City, so this was the perfect experience. The view from my room was great both night and day. The manager, Yaser, was wonderful as were all the staff who made my stay so fantastic. Hope to do it again next year.
