The resort is 15 minutes walking distance to city, staff are very friendly and helpful. Great lake view, comfortable bed and clean bathroom. The bonus is free parking.

I enjoyed my 4 nights stay. I love our room we can see the lake and cecil peak from there. I enjoyed the outdoor spa. Breakfast is not too bad. Would be nice to have different menu for the breakfast buffet every other day.

We had booked a superior lake view room and paid the premium for it. On arrival, your receptionist was very efficient and was always smiling and welcoming. Our room though was a disappointment. Although we had a view of the lake and it was configured for two guests, (two of cups, wine glasses etc), it only had one chair??? The only flat surface in the room was a low coffee table so any in-room dining was out of the question. There were no tissues in the room and when we enquired about this, we were told that it was due to Covid. Why you didn't replace the normal box with a travel pack, I don't know!! We were given a box of tissues after we asked but not the requested second chair, which meant that only one of us could sit on a chair, the other had to sit on the edge of the bed, not very comfortable at all. The shower was difficult to control and went from warm, to hot and back to cold which made showers uncomfortable. The carpet needed a deep clean but was also looking very worn. As for additional cleaning, there were still ring marks on the top of the bedside when we arrived. Comparing this room to a previous stay by our daughter, the quality had dropped and in mu opinion was inferior and did not warrant the additional cost. The other positives were a great meal served in the lounge bar and the service supplied by the bar man who was very friendly and helpful and the return of my wife's cardigan which she had left in the lounge.

We celebrated my parents 51st wedding anniversary. The staff made it and extra special experience for them, from the flower petals and heart shape on the bed, to the lovely hand written note and then to our surprise there were chocolates in the fridge with happy anniversary on it. Thank you sooooo much for this, they were over the moon. Breakfast was great , atmosphere at the hotel was always pleasant with friendly staff and always happy to go the extra mile .... Keep up the great work!!!

Lovely warm welcome at reception and from the bar staff later on. Was given a lovely room with an amazing view. Breakfast staff not as good as the other staff we encountered and the breakfast food was less than average for a hotel of this quality.

It was a terrible stay, the view was good, staff was friendly, but nothing else. The facility was really old, small and poor bathroom, no bathtub, old air con didn’t work well either, not enough light in the main room area, not even bright enough for reading map. The laundry has only coin machine and always full, made me feel like in a hostel, really doesn’t feel like a 4 star hotel. What’s worse, when coming back from dinner, there isn’t even a parking spot onsite, has to find one on the side of road at 9 on cold night on the mountain, such a nightmare.

The room was run down and not very clean, bathroom on website was anew upgraded one as the one we had was old and drab in need of an upgrade. Would not recommend or stay again!

We received a 'free upgrade' to a lakeside room which was lovely especially as it was our wedding anniversary and a mystery weekend away so this was not planned by ourselves. The Mercure was adequate and our room was clean. We did not use the spa facilities as they were always in use by a lot of people so highly recommend Onsen Spa facilities. We hired a car however did find that by the time we returned back for the evening that there were not enough car parks so that's something to keep in mind. All in all the staff were pleasant and breakfast was a basic continental incl in our accommodation. We ate out in Queenstown and Gibbston Valley for the rest of the time.

We stayed on both 28 March and 3 April. We have been an Accor Plus member for a number of years. Upon arrival on 28 March, when the hotel was almost empty, we were told that we were using our "free" night and would normally be upgraded but they couldn't this time...hmmm with an empty hotel? We were told well it is free... Actually we have paid for years and used the hotels frequently. We had what you call "free" nights as we had been unable to travel due to covid. I beg to differ with this "free" terminology as the cost of our annual fee far exceeds the cost of the room we received. I was told on departing for the Alps to Ocean bike ride that when we returned, we would be upgraded and have a room on the third floor. When we returned on 3 April we were told the hotel is busy so no upgrade. Even though, on the form I signed when checking in, there was a hand written note saying room on 3rd floor. I was then told again, well - your night is free you are not paying so you can't expect to be upgraded! We were shown to a room, 218 I think. No view and food thrown on the uncut grass outside of the window. I expressed my disappointment and mentioned we had booked months ago. I was advised that I cannot expect to get a good room because I had booked months ago. When you use an accor card you get bumped down and actually we were lucky to get a free room at all! We will never use the Accor group of hotels again and we will never renew the card. We have in the past experienced fantastic service in both NZ and Australia. Your staff need some training and indeed accor need to change the use of free room, surely an organisation the size of yours are able to come up with an alternative word. We were tired after completing the Alps to Ocean bike ride, we used the company "escape by cycle" who were fantastic incidentally. My husband was going to complain regarding our treatment but I stopped him. I have never in my life been made to feel like this, a third class citizen and it was extremely embarrassing. I must add we were treated well in the bar and by a lovely lady when we checked out on 4 April. I strongly suggest you change your approach, one can't totally blame the staff at the hotel as I imagine they are following procedures. Perhaps some training on delivery might be in order though.

Well overall it was wonderful. Lakeside view n food was nice. Except for the condition of the room wasn’t the Accor standard. As being a ex Sofitel Fiji Resort staff I know the standards of Accor is very high and above expectations.
