This hotel is located at the top of a steep hill just above the Porto São Bento train station and TimeOut Market. It’s a great location as it is also just 5 minutes away from the Bolhão Market. My room had great views of the city below. The hotel lobby is well decorated and modern, with a large restaurant and bar. The room was large, clean, comfortable, and the decor modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful, with a special shout out to Daniela. The exception would be Hugo. Avoid dealing with him if you can. He has no interest in helping you anyway. Despite that, I would stay at this property again the next time I’m back in Porto.

Very strange reception layout - not traditional desk setup but more bank style desks with staff members on stools and laptops. Room was ok - decent size compared to some others posted on here but lack of attention to detail when planning room layout. Wardrobe containing safe and only other mirror was right next to bed and was impossible to open without moving the bedside table. Bedding was ripped and I’m not sure how this was not noticed by housekeeping as it was in a prominent location. Air conditioning hit and miss. Complimentary bottled water in fridge although this was not replenished daily. Biggest issues is lack of maintenance. Out of 4 elevators only 2 were working throughout our entire stay meaning that there were queues at the main elevator bank. Luckily we were staying near a lesser known elevator so utilised this but there didn’t seem any urgency getting the elevators fixed especially as they had placed planters in front of one of the lifts doors.

Quirky restaurant decorated with bicycles and aptly named. Good regional dishes. Hotel was comfortable and friendly and well situated for looking round the centre of Porto. Staff were efficient and friendly and room was clean and comfortable.

The hotel has quite a good location very close to the main shopping street and lots of cafés for breakfast. The room was a good size and well appointed with the bathroom having a shower over the bath. We had a good view of the city from our room. The staff were all very pleasant. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant on the night we arrived. On several afternoons, the room became too hot and we were told that the air-conditioning was not operating. There is no real defined bar area in the hotel. It is part of the restaurant and subject to noisy breakfast laying out early in the evening. We would stay again but at the right price.

An unpleasant experience

We arrived at this hotel in the evening only to find that our room was like a sauna. The controls in our room did not alter the temperature. We advised the night manager of our problem but he was not interested in helping us. He resumed typing on his laptop and then served another customer. When I asked him to do something about our room, he became quite aggressive. He eventually asked another staff member to change the temperature so that rooms would be on cooling instead of heating. It was a very unpleasant experience, the night manager was rude and not customer focussed. The hotel needs to upgrade its air-conditioning so that the temperature in the rooms can be controlled by the customers. We would never return to this hotel.
