The Hotel Mondial am Dom Cologne MGallery suffers from the same affliction as many hotels do these days - spending too much time and effort on the design and not enough on the hotel parts. Consequently, our stay here would have been first massively improved by the addition of working air conditioning. When you came back to the room, it was clear that it had attempted to work, but the humidity climbed as soon as you got in the room and wouldn’t recover. We just kept the window open. Secondly the shower. Very few people want to be watched in the shower through a halftone version of the Dom. But here you have no choice. There are no curtains or blinds around the shower, and it looks out into the rest of the room. Odd. Aside from that, we asked to have the shower gel filled up and they just added about enough for a couple more showers, which seems stingy to say the least. The conditioner bottle was also “conveniently” placed outside the shower cubicle. The bed was also incredibly squeaky! Some of the legs were not straight and it seemed the ones in the middle of the bed didn’t touch the floor. On the good side, everything was clean and all the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful. But please next time think about how your guests use the hotel, not just what they see.

We stayed in Mondial Am Dom following our Rhine cruise which also coincidenced with Euro 1/4 finals .The location is fantastic , close to the river , the old quarter , the station and cathedral . We found the room comfortable, simple modern equiped. Our only complaint was we could not get any English speaking channels on TV . But it turned out it was a fault on the TV and management offered us an alternative room . The attached wine bar was not always open which was a shame as prices were very competitive priced however the breakfast prices are over the top. All said I would strongly recommend

The hotel is well located , the team is great (friendly, attentive ) ; the real drawback is the size of the room ... I understand I have been upgraded (thanks) but even then , the room remained small with little space to store our bags , clothes; once two people are in the romm , moving around the bed becomes a challenge , not to mention having one of them work ... And we had to have the door of the bathroom fixed as it wouldn't close .

Perfect Hotel for the Stag Party

I visited this hotel recently along with 12 friends and I can not recommend the hotel enough. The staff were polite and helpful and certainly not rude or racist as some recent reviews have suggested. The hotel was able to accommodate our request for twin rooms, which were all clean, spacious and modern. The hotel is just a short walk from the cathedral as well as the town square which has many bars and restaurants. The hotel is also very close to the train station and therefore getting to and from the airport is very simple. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Köln and would recommend this hotel to anyone that is visiting the city in the future.

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the level of customer service I received during my recent stay at Hotel Mondial am Dom Cologne. As a frequent traveler, I understand that not every hotel experience can be perfect, but the issues I encountered during my stay were unacceptable and racist! Stayed at the hotel on the 13/5/2024. The front desk staff at 8pm working in this hotel was very rude, racist and badly trained. Even the manager seemed indifferent, unhelpful and doesn’t portray proper hospitality. When I complained to the manager that the front desk staff was raising his voice, talking down to us and rolling his eyes at us. She told us that her staff is never rude! She doesn’t even know the basic rule of hospitality. With a poor customer orientated manager, it’s no surprise that the whole front desk staff is badly trained. German culture doesn’t give the staff any reason to treat the customer so badly. As this is an international hotel group. It should follow the international standard of warm and enthusiasm in their service. The main priority in any hospitality job is to satisfy the customer and make their experience perfect. In a service-oriented industry being understand, patience and FRIENDLY is a must. If the staff are not willing to provide the bare minimum, then they shouldn’t be working in this line! I am Singaporean Chinese. I understand English perfectly as it’s our main language in our country! I believe my command of English is way better than the front desk staff. So please stop asking if I understand English when we are having a conversation in it! It’s very insulting and disrespectful! Please learn to treat your customers of other races with more respect! ALMOST ALL THE GREAT REVIEW ARE GIVEN FROM NON ASIAN CUSTOMERS . Double standard 😡 Again! Horrible service and attitude from hotel staff. Unqualified manager. I urge the group management to address this issues promptly and take necessary steps to improve your customer service. I hope that my concerns will be heard and that appropriate measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. How is this a 4 stars hotel?
