The location at the Koeln Hbf right across from the Dom was amazing, and the price was right. We were ready to just stash our luggage until later in the evening, but we were able to check-in early, which we appreciated. The room was clean and spacious for the location and price. Basic amenities provided. The bedding was nice, and the room was quiet at night. If I return to Cologne, I won't hesitate to stay here again.

Very practical. Excellent location if you are using sbahn and/or ubahn or trains, you are practicallyi inside the Cologne central station.. Great value for money. Service is basic, of course, but this is the Ibis. Rooms are clean and rather calm considering that they overlook the big square near the dom where it is always busy.

This is a decent budget hotel in a good location. The hotel is directly on the station and in front of the Dom. It was great given we had an early train the next day. The room was fine. Be aware if you're on the 4th floor there's no lift for the last 8 steps. Room was clean and bed was comfortable and the shower room was also clean with good water pressure. It was basic and I'd have liked more pillows but for an overnight stop it was fine and we wanted it mainly for the location. We had to leave early so didn't manage breakfast but there are plenty of places in the vicinity that serve food.

A really nice budget hotel. The hotel is in a great location. We’d travelled by train from The Netherlands and one entrance to the hotel using the station. The hotel is right opposite Cologne Cathedral. We arrived 2 hours before check-in time and we’re hoping there’d be somewhere to store our luggage but our room was ready so we were delighted with the early check in. A lovely room with a view of the cathedral. Room nice & modern & spotless clean. Only had one night in Cologne but would be happy to recommend this hotel & to stay here again. Staff very pleasant & helpful, too.

Perfect location, has everything you need for a good night's sleep

Since we were arriving at and departing from Cologne by train we wanted a hotel near the station, which also means next to the Cathedral. Having stayed in December 2004 at, and been impressed by, the Dom Hotel we tried there but this is being gutted as part of a multi-million euro refit. We know IBIS hotels so the Koln am Dom was a natural choice and we were not disappointed. It is a basic hotel that provides everything you need: triple glazing, which keeps out most noise (apart from some church bells); a well-lit bedroom and a comfy bed, a shower where the water doesn't dribble out and, crucially, a good breakfast spread. We stayed for 2 nights and paid an average of 185 euros a night, B&B, which for a hotel in the dead centre of Cologne is reasonable. It is in fact knitted into the Hauptbahnhof (see pic) and you don't even need to leave the station to enter reception. No restaurant, but the Gaffel am Dom directly opposite will provide a hearty German meal, ideally eaten at their tables outside in the sunshine. Don't stay here if you want mahogany panelling, fawning reception staff, turn down service etc etc, but you DO want a good night's sleep and a comprehensive breakfast before your train in the morning.
