We enjoyed a lovely weekend in Grand Hotel Cabourg for the 10th Birthday of our son, very comfortable rooms, pied dans l'eau as we say in french. Enjoyed the beach, la promenade and of course an amazing dinner at Le Balbec

What an unique location previously unknown by us

It was not our intention to stay in France for that night or indeed in this magnificent hotel. Due to various ridiculous interpretations of Brexit requirements with consequential Covid implications our stay in this wonderful place with our two dogs was a huge pleasure and relief.

perfect stay of 1 week. The room facing the sea with a balcony was fabulous. The service was in line with the standard of the room everything was great. All the people take care of you in a very efficient way. I keep our room number to have next time

We enjoyed our stay. The restaurant is expensive but food and service good. We were celebrating a special occasion but apart from a handwritten note nothing else. No upgrade even though I'm a gold member. Room was okay cheap toiletries and no soap bars.

Well, but the breakfat was disappointing, we know that you can't make a buffet because of the COVID, but the breakfast is far too expensive for what is currently offered. Two pieces of bread that are served to you in the restaurant, with two mini pastries with a tiny bit of scrambled eggs, this is too light a proposition considering the standard of the hotel.

Poor state of repair and quality

The quality of the room was poor with paper thin walls and soft mattress and linen in need of replacement. Public areas and breakfast room not in keeping with a quality hotel. Service was slow at the cocktail bar and prices exhorbitant

No Sound Proofing

Lovely looking hotel but fell down on rooms that were not sound proofed. Large room with sea view, comfortable bed, tiny hand towels, could not wrap up my hair after washing and i have a small head! Breakfast is great and a lovely view. Our last evening though we had to move as a baby had arrived next door, and none stop crying, not the babys fault though.. Why put a young couple in a room with an a joining door next to a older couple ?

Overpriced - magic didn't happen!

For 430€ per night in a 5* hotel in a non-premium location like NYC, Paris or London, you'd expect the best and some magic and luxury. And that didn't happen: - we were said the room was ready but when we arrived in the room, house keeping was just starting. So, we stayed in the corridor for 15+ min hoping they would finish, but it lasted much longer. - then we asked the front desk to be notified when the room is really ready. They didn't call... Second deception at check-in. - No welcome in the room either, like a snack (I would have expected a couple of madeleine for example), or no welcome letter. - when trying to find a table at the bar in the evening, we were told with an unfriendly tone "not this one, this is for a family. You seat in the lobby by the entrance". So we left. Not even close to be a nice experience! - overall, while the room was nice, there was no magical touch that makes you feel you're in a special place (example: super amenities or fresh flowers...) - the lobby is impressive but when you look at details, it feels a bit short for the standard they claim: worn carpet by the stairs for example. - same thing for service: while the service was OK, we felt no personalisation or specific attention that made us feel welcomed. And, again, for this level of price, being just OK is not OK. - the breakfast was good but, again, not exactly the level you'd expect (example: no waffle, limited bread choice, no brioche, limited choice of fresh fruits, limited choice of cold cuts, hot dishes limited to scramble eggs, bacon and potatoes...). And asking an extra for eggs if you want your breakfast in bed is mean. Positive aspect: vegs are organic. So, I would be very happy for a 150€ stay but it felt very short of expectations for 430€. It feels like the Proust legacy made this hotel very arrogant and too proud of themselves: it's a nice, premium hotel but not Luxury.

Néanmoins, cela ne justifie pas le fait que vous n’ayez pas été appelé ensuite pour vous tenir informé et nous aurions dû vous adresser une attention afin de vous prouver notre implication suite à ce désagrément. Je vous prie donc d’accepter toutes nos sincères excuses car cela n’est absolument pas représentatif de notre savoir-faire. J’ai également lu l’ensemble de vos commentaires concernant votre petit déjeuner, l’accueil au sein de notre bar et votre ressenti au sujet de votre chambre. Votre avis est très précieux pour nous et je vous remercie de nous en avoir fait part. Je peux vous assurer que nous saurons tenir compte de vos remarques et j’espère que nous aurons la chance de vous recevoir à nouveau afin de vous faire oublier ce mauvais souvenir. Best for at least 50 years

This was the best hotel I have stayed in for at least 50 years, of a kind I could never normally afford. We had a brilliant room on the second floor overlooking the sea. The service was excellent. After thinking we would not do so, because it would be too expensive, we ate in the restaurant twice and really enjoyed our meals.

For Proust lovers but not only

Nice stay, mostly for Marcel Proust lovers. A beautiful and comfortable "fin-de-siècle" Grand Hotel, planted over the sea, and bordered by a perfect Normandy style garden. We tried the "aquarium" (Proust reminiscence) restaurant and have enjoyed very much.

Great hotel overlooking the sea

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel in a lovely, spacious room overlooking the sea. The service was excellent from all personnel. The range and quality of food at breakfast was very good. We had dinner in the restaurant on one evening and that also met our expectations. If we are in this part of France again, we will certainly stay at Le Grand Hotel in Cabourg.

Perfect stay for a short weekend

We didn't have a lot of time to scroll in the street, going to a beach or searching for a good restaurant to dine. I was looking for a place that had it all keeping our short and precious stay as comfortable as possible. The Grand Hotel in Cabourg was perfect for this purpose. A beautiful setting along the sea, in front of the pedestrian street of the city center with a gastronomic restaurant that exceeded our expectations. The hotel crew was joyous and relaxed. Thank you, we will keep this weekend in our memories for a long time.

A unique experience at a reasonable cost. Unforgettable stay in room with sea view and terrace. Not very much to do in Caborg itself, but close to beautiful Route du cidre and pretty places like Villiers-sur-mer, Arromanches and Beuvron-en-Auge. Thumbs up!

We had an excellent stay here. We had a room overlooking the beach which was stunning. Although a turn of the (last) century property, the room was beautifully updated with every comfort and modern convenience. The bathroom was spacious, with beautiful products and linens. Only sad part was we visited on a Monday when the restaurant was closed. We will definitely be back!

Amazing Hotel!

We had a room with see view and I have to say, the view was more than amazing. This was definitely the highlight of the stay.The hotel is ideally placed just front of the sea, not too close and not too far from the city center. You just have to push the door and you are on the sand. The room was very comfortable, the bed was perfect. It was also very calm. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and it was definitely to level gastronomy. Breakfast very good with a lot of choice. The staff was very kind and professional. We are super happy about our stay.

Absolute luxury in a wonderful setting.

Immediately on arrival we were made welcome. On the way to our designated room the porter carrying our bags took a phone call to say we were being moved to a room with a double bed, instead of twin beds. This turned out to be a room with sea view and was incredibly spacious. High quality toiletries, dressing gowns were provided all at the cost quoted. The breakfast was SUPERB and included in the deal. Only criticism was the dreadful music playing in the bar, not in keeping with the elegant decor. Staff were courteous and helpful. It was a perfect stay on our journey to Brittany.

This is a very nice and classic hotel. Very nice and friendly staff. Big rooms with enough aminities. Very nice breakfast with beatiful view at the beach in the morning. Free parking in the front of the hotel. I will go back if we will stay in Normandië.

This is a beautiful property well located on the beach and promenade. Has all you could expect from a five-star property plus the atmosphere of a grand hotel of the early 1900s. Looking inland is well located for access to the main shopping and restaurant strip.

I was lucky to get the recommendation to go to Le Grand Hotel Cabourg from a friend of mine ..it has been a marvellous experience.The hotel is very elegant with a splendid view on the beach which, thank to the tide, changes every moment of the day. The breakfast is amazing and it should not be considered expensive compared to what you will get. Would also recommend the restaurant; I have had my best dinner in Normandy.
