With the Covid restrictions was what was expected only issue do not use whatsapp so difficult to contact the hotel reception as no phones in room. Staff very good room clean

Good stay. Location is very good for seeing Southampton. Liked the private use of the pool for families for 30min slots. Felt very special and worked well. Friendly staff and good, comfortable rooms.

It was all good but left bit dissapointed as werent able to use swimming pool as tbey were apparently fully booked for 2 days of our stay and tbh it was main reason we chose the hotel

Obviously some things were different with this stay to normally due to covid restrictions. However the hotel coped well with the changes. We really liked the half hour booked pool slot to ourselves (as it’s not a big pool so works so much better than sharing with others). Dinner menu was limited and slower service but not bad again considering the restrictions at present.

Overall it was a nice stay. The customer service was good. The look of the hotel was nice and the bed was comfortable the only downside that made it not 100% was the hygiene of the place I thought I would have been better cleaned especially during bruising pandemic. There was dust particle on the ceiling hanging down which scared my daughter when sleeping and the shower and bath didn’t look like it was clean properly also our sink was blocked.

Easily accessible for most of the places you would want to go. Breakfast was average, as were the rooms. Suited our purpose so no complaints. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We are a family with 2 young children. It was a lovejy hotel with everything we needed but we was rudely awoken by drunk uni boys running up and down the corridor outside our room. Then lots of swearing & arguing. Resulting with us calling reception who then called security. They couldn’t remove them & it didn’t quieten down for another hour. Very disturbed sleep after that so was disappointed after having a long day out with the children.

I found the hotel easy to navigate with good systems to protect from Covid 19 the breakfast was good and plentiful and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

I am a regular here because with novotel you know you're getting quality with convenient location. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast and a swimming pool, whats not to love! The rooms are clean and the mattress is firm and comfortable.

A surprise stop, thought we were going to the Ibis. Clean, comfortable rooms, lovely bed. Had a meal in the bar, not the cheapest but not bad for hotel prices.

I had my wedding at Novotel Southampton on 31/10/20. It had been planned for a year and the staff were great throughout the whole process. We had an amazing day and felt thoroughly looked after. All our guests complimented the fabulous food and how awesome Brian our toastmaster was. We highly recommend Novotel for special occasions like weddings.

Was ok very noisy rooms tho screaming children next door to are room and banging about, woke up by housekeeping at 9.15 in the morning!! Also was right by the lift so was really noisy all night!

Staffing issues

The breakfast situation was a shambles with clearly not enough staff employed to deal with a breakfast bar situation. We queued for 30 minutes on both days when we had already pre booked a time slot for breakfast. There was no way near enough staff trying to serve people breakfast, it was badly organised with an exceptionally long wait for cold food and coffee in paper cups. We were extremely disappointed with the breakfast arrangements which did not start our days well. Even in the current climate, this could have been far better organised, without leaving people queuing for so long. Very disappointed, I did raise this with the hotel and got nowhere, with a staff member just saying they didnt have enough staff, which was not helpful, time away is precious at the moment and I was very disappointed with our stay especially when time away and money is precious at the moment. We will not be going back to the Novotel.
