A deeply disappointing experience at Novotel Grand Place Brussels – zero flexibility in a moment of crisis What should have been a joyful weekend in Brussels with my Dutch family turned into a distressing situation due to a sudden and serious cardiovascular health emergency involving my stepmother. With no choice but to cancel our plans last minute, I reached out to all parties involved to explain the situation. Every other booking—from excursions to our reservation at the renowned restaurant Aux Armes de Bruxelles—was cancelled without issue. Each provider responded with understanding and empathy, recognizing that health emergencies are unpredictable and deserving of compassion. Unfortunately, Novotel Grand Place Brussels stood in stark contrast. Despite explaining the gravity of the situation and requesting a minimum level of flexibility or empathy, the hotel categorically refused to accommodate or even acknowledge the exceptional circumstances. Their response was rigid, impersonal, and devoid of any human consideration. As I am currently abroad, I was unable to manage the situation in person, which made the lack of support even more difficult. I had hoped for a gesture of goodwill—be it a partial refund, a credit, or even a simple acknowledgment of the situation. Instead, I was met with a cold, bureaucratic stance that felt entirely out of step with the hospitality industry’s values. This experience has left me deeply disappointed—not only because of the financial loss, but because of the missed opportunity for Novotel to show that they care about their guests as people, not just bookings. I sincerely hope the management reflects on this and considers how a touch of empathy can go a long way in building trust and loyalty.

Good location but not a lot of heart

Really recommend this hotel for the central location. Other than that it is a standard business level efficient adequate sufficient base for exploring the Brussels city centre. Breakfast was included and met the familial expectations of the teens present. Cleanliness was more superficial rather than to be remaked upon. Our arrival was probably the highlight as the girl on reception took time to include the junior family members (stuffed teddy greatly appreciated) and set a great tone for the following days. Would defintiely recommend but a bit soulless.

Great location but just average service

The location was perfect, which was easy for us to go anywhere. The service was hard to define. The shower couldn't drain at our first night. I called the reception and someone said that they would come to check in 20 minutes. After waited for 45 minutes and none of us could have shower after a long day, I called the reception again and this time they replied that they were too busy and no one would come. I was so angry that they could tell at our first call as they just wasted our time and all of us were so tired. However, we found that they did help to fix the problem when we came back from outsides on second day. The room and the bed were actually comfortable. I just hoped they could be honest at the first place. Overall, the price was reasonable and it was good for city explorer.

Worst Accor Hotel I ever stay as platinum Accor

This is one of the worst 👎👎👎 hotel that I ever stayed as Accor Platinum. 1st The executive room is fakes. No executive room. The rooms in this floor are all apparently superior room + sofa (can be sofa bed) - same size, design, etc (identical). They just put the Nesspresso Coffee Machine (we will never use it during stay) to make it as executive room with expensive executive price, total price difference is about €100+ more. This room is far from the criteria executive room. The table is not that big and the shower is so dirty and small with minimum Bathroom amenities (only shampoo and soap). The area was not quite and the worst things we got connecting room (No.329) with other family with children. Every night they were fighting and making noise. At the second night (around 11 PM) we knocked the door very loud to make them quiet because we couldn't sleep. It was so bad experience. Thus, Some of USB port on the bed was broken, we had already been reported to front desk but until we check out they didn't repair it. The automatic key was broken and we had reported 3x and the front just gave us new card that no function due to the battery off & at the 4 times one of male staff finally went up to check and changed the battery. 2nd. The hospitality is very bad, they gave the welcoming letters for platinum member and the cookies straight away after i made a payment. No preparation or put it in the room for personal service, etc and my room not well prepared. The room was not ready at the check-in time. When i made complain about the room the front office young lady was very rude. Not explaining very well about the room. She keep yelling until the manager came but unfortunately he couldn't give me a good solutions also. 3rd. The breakfast very basic and not much variety of warm meal. Boring breakfast. The positive things is only the location that in the center of brussels but once again very crowded full of tourists. It was a big nightmare!!!
