Lovely staff, but the whole hotel looks and feels unloved and is desperately in need of a refurb. The location is really good. A 5 minute bus ride from the Vieux Port. The rooms are really nice. Funnily enough my stay at the Sofitel next door also showed me another unloved hotel, and needing a major refurb.

Amazing location, perfect to discover Marseille for the first time! Staff was nice and very helpful… they gave us great advice about where to visit during our trip. Food was amazing, as usual in France :) We also really appreciated the ecological commitment of Novotel (regarding water consumption reduction in the shower). Overall, would definitely recommend!!

The location is about the only good thing. The rooms are very tired. The carpets are stained, the bathrooms scratched, paint peeling and tile grouting dirty. The room is very basic but it has a coffee machine (which is appreciated). The pool area is pleasant enough but everything in this hotel is old and needs refurbishing. Go somewhere else, eg Intercontinental or Les Bords.

This Hotel is discussing, it’s dirty and old. The lobby is new don’t be fooled.! The air conditioning does not work the bathrooms are filthy, they have put new grout over mould. The beds are horrible and the pillows are like concrete. DO NOT STAY HERE.

At first you are wowed by the entrance hall. Modern, sleek, elegant. Then things start going pear-shaped as you get to the lifts (only two, with a maximum three-people capacity despite the 8-person or 600kg notice inside), which can take longer than you’d normally expect. The corridors and the rooms are… well… disappointing: the carpet looks perennially dirty despite the efforts of the cleaning team, with the baseboards covered in a thick layer of dust. The room itself is passable, with a decor straight out of the 90s. (It certainly looks like it hasn’t been renovated since). The fact that the toilet is in a separate room, with plastered walls and no washbasin, gasted my flabbers. There are also lovely positives: the location is unparalleled, the breakfast offers quite the spread, the view of the breakfast area is breathtaking, looking straight at the old fortress, staff is accommodating and friendly and the swimming pool are is truly agreeable. We would go back but not under the pretence this is a 4-star hotel, because it isn’t.
