Unluckily not the best experience in a hotel of this categorie I had in the last few years or even in Duisburg itself. First...the breakfast. The sortiment was OK, but the bread was really dry and some of the cheese looked like at least two days in the buffet. Therefore was an abundance of broken and chiped glasses at the edges, which was taken away most unwillingly. Second...maybe it was a mistake, maybe Not...but they didn't want to give out the bill...after I've got it (the day after I have paid it), i knew why....actually it was completly wrong. The young men, who unfortunately had to take the reclamation, was really nice and tried his best. Whereas the others of the service mostly were not. Positive to say is the location really near to the City and the size and the facilities of the rooms (although they could have been without some Hair in the bathroom and packaging material from another user, but that was OK). In the future I will go to another Hotel in Duisburg, I've already visited. Alternative: i would Go into the near city for a better breakfast

Pleasant to stay in. We were on a short-trip to see the zoo and used a special discount including the entrance-fee for the zoo. The stay was comfortable. I'd personally say the beds are comfy, but too soft.😶‍🌫️ Literally thought about to switch over to sleeping on the harder sofa. Didn't do, because I didn't get how to set it up properly... 🫣 We tried the wellness area, hope next time we stay the shower reconstruction is finished 🛠 and the water of the pool is a little bit warmer. (I'm still frozen 🥶) The breakfast is tasty and the hotel-crew is caring & funny. The option to opt-out roomservice is cool. Who needs fresh towels every single day? If we are around, we'd be happy to visit again.🥰

Bang average stay

Not the best but not the worst hotel ive stayed in. Getting off the train and seeing the Mercure sign- I thought wow thats close. Upon a closer look, I had to either walk through a very rough looking shopping centre, or walk round the outside of the building and over a dual carriageway to arrive at the hotel. Reception area looked nice and staff were friendly. The lift definitely need a refurb and so do the corridors. Worn carpets and old walls. The room itself was great. Nice and clean with a modern bathroom which was great. Bed was comfy but the pillows are the type were you put your head down and your head hits the mattress and the contents of the pillow are by your face. Breakfast was average with no much selection. Wouldn't recommend for a couple or family but would recommend for a solo traveller who isnt in the hotel much.

Plastic under sheets

Plastic under sheets is a definite no-go. Lots of people can't sleep with plastic under sheets. Don't go here unless you like sweaty, hot nights for the wrong reason. I won't go there again even if you pay me. PLEASE BOYCOTT HOTELS WITH PLASTIC BED SHEETS

We are sure, that it is not in a guests interest or not in your interest, that the mattresses will be contaminated with any liquids left by other guests. Negative Experience That We Won't Forget

The hotel's fine but how they treat people isn't. My sister-in-law, a Ukrainian refugee, was waiting for us in the lobby. Our train was late so she was there for a while. The man working at the front desk, Mr. Thomas, kicked her out just for sitting in the lobby so she had to stand outside for about an hour. When I asked him to apologize to her he looked at me and said sorry, refusing to actually apologize to her. I sensed his prejudice against her and the other employees would only make up exuses for him. I also called four times from the train and no one would answer the phones.
