Personal belonging stolen from my room during the afternoon. On top of that, the hotel is not clean, the air conditioning is of poor quality and very noisy. The breakfast is very basic, the floor is sticky. The whole experience was a disaster.

Due to my business trip, I had to travel to other countries in Europe, so I chose the hotel around the Charles de Gaulle airport for parking and storing my luggage, and I was very happy with the four-day parking and free luggage storage service, and I was very happy with everything about the hotel's rooms, restaurants, bars, etc.

We needed an overnight at CDG and being Accor Diamond members chose one of their hotels, the Mercure Convention. To get to it you have to take the shuttle from T1, T2 or T3 to one of the parking stops (it is very clearly signposted). The shuttle is frequent and takes a few minutes. Once you arrive at the stop you exit the platform and follow the signs to the hotel which is basically under an open but covered walkway. The Mercure is one of the further hotels and you should allow 10 minutes for the walk. It is mostly flat so dealing with rolling luggage is not a problem although there was one section that required a lift of bags. As you approach the Mercure you quickly realize the hotel is in a very old concrete building that likely comes from a similar era to CDG T1 (it almost classes as art deco without the art!) however when you walk into the entrance you can see the interior has been upgraded at some point. To the left is a reception area, and then looking to the right first the lifts, then a restaurant, an entrance to a convention area and then an open plan bar area. Checkin was easy and quick and we headed off to our room via the lifts. The corridor was perhaps forgotten in the last upgrade and the rooms whilst clean were showing signs of wear and tear, the shower room the same having the typical Accor price point modular fittings. The bed was comfortable but overall a rather nondescript uninteresting room in need of some TLC. We headed off to the bar to use our status earned welcome drinks. The bar was not busy and generally uninspiring being open plan. The service was okay and pretty much what I would expect from an airport hotel of this price point. We had to ask for some nuts to go with our drinks but when we did get them they were tasty and plentiful. I guess it is just getting used to having to ask rather than be offered. It was time for food and being in France we were looking forward to some local french cuisine (perhaps a nice beef bourgeon, or some escargot with garlic and parsley). Oh boy were we disappointed. The menu is more of a burger or fried chicken with chips, not a French Onion soup in sight. After spending more Euro’s than we should have done we called it a day and retired. The hotel should consider whether this is called a restaurant of a food pitstop for travelers that are starving and market is as such. The worst part is that in the location there are no alternatives that we could find so we were a captive audience. It was such a shame and allows me to conclude that our stay was one of necessity and while we would stay in the rooms again would not eat at the hotel. We need to try other CDG hotels before we can make a fuller conclusion but based on what we have seen and compared to hotels at other major airports this was on the disappointing side of the spectrum.

Terrible experience at Mercure CDG

I booked my husband in this hotel for one night as he had an international flight the next day. It was a terrible experience for him. He had a bad back spasm and the shuttle only takes you to one km away from the hotel. He had to walk there. He said the room was very small and the hotel was ridiculously expensive for such a small room.

Arrived at 2:30pm. Pretty hungry. Turns out the restaurant is closed and the bar is also closed. Oh well. Turns out, it's for a reason: 9 euro sandwiches. Not a good sandwhich, but a terrible one.One of those thin sandwiches in a sealed cardboard box, which has no filling except a bit of cheese, wilted lettuce and barely any chicken salad,the chicken salad being mostly composed of mayo. They have snacks. But guess what? It's 3 euros for a Mars bar. And it's locked up behind glass, so you have to ask the staff to unlock it. So you have to get back in line, fuming over the fact that you're about to purchase this small choclate bar for a ridiculous price.Well, because I have self respect, I got out of line and made due with my overpriced pop and sandwhich. Not happy at all. Guess what? The only other option is room service. And oh boy. It's overpriced even for room service. So you can't get anything to eat at this hotel from 2 to 7 pm unless you want to sell your dignity as they implicitly pressure you into room service. Got a free drink ticket for being a gold member- for all the good that did me. So, the free drink ticket has a big image of a cocktail on it, and it says 'enjoy a drink on us.'Great. Maybe this will make up for my prior experience of a 9 euro sandwhich. Well, when I got to the bar, I ordered a gin and tonic. The women at the bar was basically emanating disinterest and barely concealed contempt. Ok. So what does she do? She pours me the drink before I've paid, but then doesn't open the tonic.She only opens it after, like im some sort of theif who isnt going to pay. When I ask her about the free drink, she tells me only the tonic is complimentary. Well, tonic is part of the drink, so i get nothing for free. So I pay, like a fool they take me for, thinking I'll take this to the front desk, where I can inquire in a less noisy and crowded environment, with a more friendly member of the staff. I go to the front desk and inquire.They tell me it's only for soft drinks and wine and beer. Ok...No refund... No offer of another free drink ticket due to the"misunderstanding" The room: Most 4 star hotels offer a couple of bottles of water for free. Nope, it's in the mini fridge, and it's definitely not free. Soap? A small puck of motel quality hand soap. Fine, I'll live. The shower,however,has the drain cover detached almost completely. Great. Now I have to make sure I don't twist my ankle. I'm not calling in a service guy when I'm only staying one night and have to get up to catch a flight. So no shower for me. I've seen motels with better service. Instead of four star service,I payed over the odds for a place that knew it could nickle and dime me, because there are no other options if you don't have a car or take a 10 euro taxi ride into the small town. They also misled me into thinking that I would get a free drink, and made me feel the fool for putting my trust in them. Never again. This is my experience and I allege they knew exactly what they were doing.
