I reserved the wrong weekend, showed up expecting my reservation to be on file. Hotel staff moved my reservation to this weekend and approved the credit card cancellation. Top service. The stay was great with top notch valet, restaurant, bar, front desk, and reception service.

Great staff, especially at the front office. Great rooms, amazing comfortable beds. Breakfast was very good, delicious bread and croissants, the other pastries could be better quality. Staff at the bar not to the level.

I enjoyed the Sofitel in the middle of the Unique big Island. The staff is super friendly and go out of there way to make you stay a memorable one! The rooms are elegant and clean and we loved the ambiance of the terrace restaurant in the middle of the city… enjoyed everything about our stay

Excellent Service from Staff Saved tthe Hotel

Room was horribly small, old and dark. We rented a suite and had a sofa bed for children to sleep in. Once sofa bed had been opened, there were hardly any room to walk or open your suitcases. It made the stay uncomfortable with the serious lack of space. During the night, there were weird clicking cracking noises coming from the air vents. With the hotel being so old, it did feel a little loud and creepy. The toilet was near the front door before living room, while the bathroom (only combination of shower/bathtub and sink) was all the way inside after the bedroom. What saved this hotel for us were the excellent staff and service. I think the girl who checked us in was Beatrice (I hope I remember her name correctly) - the one wearing glasses. She was very nice and welcoming. The bell boy who helped us was Laslo/Lazlo (not sure which version/how to spell it) and was extremely helpful and thoughtful. He even provided complimentary pretzels and bottled water for our journey to the next city when we checked out, after he helped with loading our suitcases into the car. I was informed by the staff that this is the first Sofitel in the world and while some people may prefer really old style rooms, we prefer something newer and more spacious as it really was difficult to walk around the room and quite impossible to open suitcases fully. If I have to rate on the room and comfort only, it would have been a 1-star. However like I said, the staff at this hotel were a gem. I have never felt being so welcomed at any of the other Sofitels or other 5 star hotels. Also, parking is very limited. We arrived late at the hotel, parking was already full and we had to park at a public carpark (about 10 - 15 minutes walk away). I heard from the pther guests checking in at rhe time also had the same issue. So leave your luggage at the hotel first if you have to park elsewhere. With room/comfort and parking - 1 point rating and staff/service & location - 5 points rating, technically overall rating for this hotel based on my experience should be 3 points. However as we left the hotel feeling positive and somewhat satisfied thanks to Beatrice and Laslo's caring nature, and comparing with services from other 4 and 5 star hotels (been travelling around Europe 5 weeks and stayed at around 20 hotels), I decided to be a little biased and added an extra point. Please renovate and we would like to return.

Loved our Christmas stay!

We spent 6 nights here over Christmas and it was perfect! The location is ideal in that it literally one block off the main centre of town on Grande Ile so we were never more than a few minutes walk to Place Kleber, the Cathedral or Petit France. Being just off the main area meant it was a more quiet respite from the busy centre. The staff was unbelievably helpful at all turns and I would like to extend a profound thank to Gregorie the concierge who helped us with something every single day and also the bellman, Laszlo, who was assuring and helpful when our train back to CDG airport was cancelled due to the strike. Truly service above and beyond from both of these gentlemen. You definitely want to see make sure to the historic wine cellar in the hospital and see the video and astronomical clock demonstration....it is worth it and fascinating! (Buy your tickets for it ahead of time! and then get in the line no later than 11am. Make sure to get in the line for those that already have tickets rather those that still need to buy them (its not well marked). We took the train to Colmar on several days and used Uber to around between the crazy charming and fairy tale towns of Equisheim (tons of charm and lots of places to wine taste), Riquewihr, Kaysersberg. If you can get an appt at Domain Weinbach for a tasting, it is literally one of the BEST in that Alsatian Region but you can't just walk in....there Grand Crus will change how you think of Alsation wine (they are hard to find because the sign on the wall says Domaine Faller, not Domaine Weinbach as it is the family name).

The hotel is lovely with beautiful amenities and an excellent restaurant and location. Unfortunately we were not advised in advance that, in view of road and bridge closures (Dec. 2019) we would be unable to reach the hotel by car. Thus we drove around needlessly for quite a while until we called the hotel and they advised us to park in a public parking garage- which we did- and then were walked the 1kilometer to the hotel with our baggage. This despite the hotel having parking and apparently some guests (not us) receiving an email with some sort of voucher or explanation which would have allowed us to cross over to the hotel despite the closures. The room was beautiful clean and comfortable despite a flushing issue with the toilet which necessitated 5-6 attempts before clearing entirely. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and we enjoyed the turn down service at night. The hotel is close to the Christmas markets and the action in this delightful city.

Staff as usual, very professional and nice. Location very good. Breakfast room loud and barren. Small breakfast room almost always occupied. Hotel getting old and furniture worn out. Unfortunately not worth the price. Not like sofitel know.

Sofitel Grande Ile is my preferred hotel when staying in Strasbourg. In the southwest quadrant of the island it is both out of the way, so very quiet, and close to everything (5-10 min walk to all the attractions and shopping and dining). Although some of the rooms are small they are all well appointed and the staff is always friendly and helpful and very professional.

We stayed at this hotel last week. Hotel has an excellent location just few steps from the historic Strasbourg center. The whole staff was very helpful, courteous. Rooms present solid quality decor with superb beds. Outdoor terrace is a nice place for afternoon/evening drinks. Breakfast offers nice variety of quality food. In summary this Sofitel is an excellent choice when visiting Strasbourg .

The hotel was great although the room was a little small (it is France) staff very helpful and on the ball food very good location very central to see all the great things in Strasbourg, all round liked the place and will be back.

stayed this hotel 4 times. only the first time was satisfied. second time chef on holiday, no dinner provided at the hotel's restaurant, breakfast was so so, which was not as good as the first time. third time the restaurant also closed. this time, restaurant also closed, no dinner, breakfast at the canteen which was not so good, whatever the ammosphere or quality of food etc. I booked this hotel 4 times also in August, which I understand is the holiday season in Europe. But, can't the hotel put the notice on the website that the restaurant is closed for holiday etc.!!!?? Honestly, I stay this hotel just because it's location in between Germany, and restaurant can provide the best Breakfast in Europe, and also very good quality dinner. But, honestly, I'll never book this hotel again in August.

This is a nice hotel with well trained staff, decent breakfast and good service. Room was just far too small for us. We booked a balcony room...balcony was plain with table 2 chairs and an ash tray. It was clear that previous guests were smokers as there was residual smell. Not the best. We had a lot of luggage and there was nowhere to put it all and access the room or the case without falling over. Staff were very helpful but I would not stay again at EU 280 per night,...I would value it at about 180 at most.

attention les photos du site peuvent vous tromper... pour la premiere fois tres decu par le sofitel. le site n affiche pas la salle de bain et pour cause... au vu de l etat et des materiaux employes on pourrait confondre avec une deux etoiles. heureusement les cars de touristes etrangers sont la pour remplir l hotel. ne commandez pas au room service , le plat arrivera froid apres avoir traverser l hotel sans protection ... point positif le personnel de la reception est tres agreable et tente de faire des « miracle » ... en faisant oublier une publicite mensongere par omission ! une honte. enfin coup de grace l etat de proprete laisse a desirer. hello , you will enjoy the nice photo on the hotel website. however please be aware that the bathroom and wc are very old, not clean and with low cost furnitures. this is not at the expected for a five star hotel. very disappointed for the very first time with the sofitel. you may find a better two star hotel. by not publishing/ advertising the bathroom , the hotel is not honest. don t order food in your room unless you like cold food ad food that will be carry over without any protection... enjoy yiur stay! they might give you some points... that you won t use anyway...

Quite frankly, I wonder if this hotel rather matches the level of an MGallery hotel than a Sofitel, but I must admit that I may be spoiled by some excellent Sofitel experiences like Vienna, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap,... We stayed there for my wife's 60th birthday and I was a bit surprised that the hotel doesnt offer any sparkling wine along with the breakfast buffet. I usually dont take it but I have seen many top hotels where sparkling wine is offered for breakfast. My asking for it didnt help. The location is superb. The rooms are clean but one can tell that the hotels has seen a couple years. In our room, electric outlets were only placed on floor level, so you have to kneel down to plug in your power supply. Kitchen fumes even on floor 5 are a bit inconvenient.

Our establishment, built in 1964, was the first Sofitel hotel in the world. We are proud of its history, but acknowledge that today, the product may need a refreshment. It might not be equal to some other hotels of the brand, but we carefully apply all Sofitel standards in our House. I am also attentive to your remark regarding the lack of sparkling wine on the breakfast buffet. Our intention is to offer a French breakfast with Alsatian flavors and indeed, our breakfast buffet does not provide any sparkling wine. However, and when our customers would like to taste one, we are very pleased to serve them on demand. However, I am glad to read that you enjoyed our superb location, a stone’s throw from Strasbourg historical city center. TIRED HOTEL IN NEED OF REVAMP

Our stay did not start well. After traveling all day and arriving at the hotel around 12.30pm, we were told our room was not ready and check in time was 3pm. So we left suitcases and backpacks with the concierge, after notifying him that one backpack contained fragile items. He said the luggage store was full and bags would have to remain on trolley, but not to worry as he was always around. Returned at 3pm and told room would be 30 minutes more. Trolley with bags was right next to door and no sign of concierge or anyone else. Finally got into room, which was far from clean. Also had prepaid months in advance and given the furthest room from the lift. Overall, dirty, tired and shabby hotel. Would not recommend or return.

Quiet location but close to essentials including dining options, sights, and transportation links. Excellent breakfast selection and helpful staff in the dining room. Good size room with all of the amenities. Front desk staff assisted with questions.
