Our stay at the hotel in Strasbourg was truly unforgettable. The cozy rooms, adorned with modern decor and offering stunning views of the city, made our experience exceptionally comfortable. The breakfasts were diverse and delicious, and the friendly staff were always ready to assist us with a smile.

Another great Sofitel stay, this time in Strasbourg. Hotel has the perfect location adjacent to everything, but not in the noisy crowded area. Beautiful terrace outside for dining. Breakfast had amazing variety and the omelets were outstanding. Dinner was amazing and even featured sole served table side. The bar had creative cocktails that were some of the best we ever had out. Rooms were always cleaned and stocked with water, coffee, etc. We never had to wait for our car as the valet was very prompt. The concierge team were very helpful for dining reservations and even planned a once in a lifetime wine tour through Alsace for us. Great service, food, and location! We plan to go back.

Location: 13 minutes walk with luggage from the train station Room: our suite on 2/F, the layout is a bit outdated. Powder room is separated from the shower room. Has to run quite a long while for hot water. There’s only one mirror in the shower and one hanging bit high in the living. Power outlets are located on one side of the bed. Mini fridge cannot be opened that has to request unlock from the reception. Breakfast: €32 per person There’s no executive lounge or area for Accor platinum member. I guessed that’s we got a semi-bottle of house champagne and two bretzels 🥨

Beat up old rooms in a hotel that designates itself as 5 stars but should at most be 3.

Welcome to a worn-out past that claims to be 5 stars but should really be three at most. This hotel, which features photos of what appear to be clean, modern rooms actually doesn't have them. Once you pass the pleasant lobby and head upstairs, you will be greeted by an unpleasant odor permeating the hallways which lead to rooms that are in the same condition they were in 1970. The carpets are worn and dirty, the furniture is beat-up, the bathrooms have not been renovated other than to replace the shower heads. We booked a junior suite through Amex Travel's Hotel Collection, expecting a clean, modern room as appears in the photos. Instead, we were first sent to a beat-up suite with filthy carpeting and worn out furniture. The Hotel Collection program is supposed to include an upgrade "when available". The desk agent said nothing was available when she first sent us to the room. When I returned and refused the room, she said she would show me two other options - one was identical to the first room - the other was a larger suite in not much better condition, albeit more spacious. (The suite appears to be a poorly configured conglomeration of two rooms - although it did have a terrace). The agent then said that now an upgrade was available as there had been a cancellation and that we should take the larger suite. She said she work that out for us. Imagine our surprise when we returned to check out and was presented with a bill for an additional approximately $400. We refused to pay it and Amex is now investigating. The upgrade was part of the program, we should not have been charged for it. When I questioned the "5 star" rating, I was told "it is not based on the rooms, but on the service". Well, once in the room I had to call to report that the door to the suite did not lock and someone had to come from maintenance. We were traveling with our dog and the desk said they would send some items up for the dog which never arrived. I had to call three times to get those delivered. The fitness center had a cable weight machine which had a sign on it in French "out of service". Our power adapter broke so I asked the desk if they could loan us one. The same clerk looked through a box of electronic pieces, told me she did not have one for an iPhone, but would send someone to get some and that I should return the following day. When I did return, I was told by the clerk then present that no one went to get anything and that there were no such instructions. 5 stars, huh?
