Poor customer service - We will not stay in Novotel Manaus next time

I have been with Accor group and stay in their hotels worldwide. Novotel Manaus has let me down.Firstly, the hotel check in desk is not aware of the eligibility of platinum members where a free upgrade is provided. I had booked two superior rooms, and the reception offered me to upgrade against a cost. I tried to show the reception staff the rules translated in Portuguese over my phone. He refused and suggested that he will block the room and discuss with his manager in the morning. Since it was late night, I made sure that he noted this on the system. I checked with the front desk in the morning, and they reported that the only suite was given off that morning. I suspected that this was a lie but was not certain. So I asked my guide to call up the hotel after an hour for availability of the suite - he was told that it was available!The front desk staff was very poorly organised. One front staff who was there most of the day on 7th November was absolutely unhelpful and even rude. Examples of issues were:1 - We ordered cocktails on poolside and was delivered the same after 1 hour to the room despite clearly stating even in Portuguese using a translator.2 - We asked for a taxi on departure. We clearly told them that we would need a taxi that accepts credit cards. Eventually as the taxi arrived, we were informed that they take only debit cards. UK debit cards were not accepted. 3 - I clearly asked them to put the two rooms in my name, just as it appears on the booking confirmations. I showed them in google translate, as well as in English. And the front desk staff ended up with doing the opposite. To this date, I have not been able to resolve the issue as for some reason the Accor loyalty site has been working erratic. Hopefully, I should be able to resolve it over phone.The only positive side was breakfast. I thought the staff were courteous. I really feel sorry for them giving this hotel a bad review. Unfortunately, this is how we feel as a family about this hotel.The bathrooms are cramped and don't have locks. The floor was unclean. The towels were poor standard. The pool was crowded, as can be expected at a tourist place. Being an outdoor pool, near sunset, save yourself from mosquito bites - it will itch for days.Novotel Manaus tried to spoil the tour for the family - but fortunately, our day tours that we booked independently were excellent. We will be back in Manaus but will not stay or recommend Novotel Manaus.

We didn't have the best experience at this hotel I'm afraid. We arrived very late at night and when we got to our rooms, there were only two beds made up, not the three we'd requested and had confirmed whilst standing at reception. As it was so late, the guy on reception couldn't do anything about it, so my husband had to go and sleep in a separate room by himself and then we were all requested to move the next day. Pool is indeed filthy - just clean it! This comes up in most of your reviews - my kids aren't fussy, but they had one dip and were straight out. When they did make up the extra bed on the second day, they issued a duvet without a cover. The main bed had a sheet plus a duvet with a cover, but they gave my husband the inner duvet and no cover - despite our protestations, they couldn't see anything wrong with it - all very strange and we didn't manage to get a cover - I had to wrap a spare sheet around it. Only water available is expensive mini bar water - so we had to walk to the garage and buy our own. Black mould growing on all three room ceilings we had access to and no handles on the bathroom doors, so you can't shut from inside. Staff friendly enough - particularly in restaurant.

Nice business hotel, clean, everything was just fine and it was a bargain rate as well. Service was excellent, and the bar makes the best Caipirinhas in the world. That alone would make me come back. Breakfast buffet was quite nice. Just perfect for business. The location was not in the best part of town but the price more than made up for that.

after the recently refurbished the hotel looks excelent. The bedrooms are clean and updated. the breakfast is wonderful with fruits and exotic food from Amazonas. The staff are very friendly and help me in everything I requested.

The Novotel Manaus is very comfortable and clean, keeping the accor quality. However, its location is very bad: isolated, far from downtown, I used to spend R$50,00 (+-U$17.00) in order to go to work.

Good swimming pool with a good breakfast. Good and modern room as well but a little small. The breakfast is another plus, ask for a complete omelete you will like it. The hotel is a little far from downtown. Rent a car if you intend to go to other areas, different from the districtal secton of the city.
