We stayed here one night en route to the Alps. Since we had booked bed and breakfast we were upgraded to superior rooms and they were very well appointed and comfortable. However like most hotels rooms it was a bit warm for me , the bed was very good. We had dinner and I really enjoyed my St. Jacques with risotto. The dessert was a bit poor but overall I was happy with dinner and the service. The highlight was the breakfast which had a really good buffet with a wide choice of foods, one of the best I have had in a long time. It was not cheap but I would consider staying here again.
Absolutely one of the worst hotels ever…. MERCURE have failed on this one.

I arrived at the hotel at 2340 hours after a long drive from Beziers Having just spent 10 Nights at the MERCURE Beziers. I was not greeted with a smile or even a hello…..I am a Gold ACCOR member and I always get a smile and warm welcome at all other MERCURE hotels, ot this one.. I paid for my room and asked if I coulld get a cold beer before going to bed. As an ACCOR member you get a complimentary drink. the female receptionist looked at me sternly and said “ I know you’re an ACCOR Member and that she would give me a voucher for a drink, I was then told the bar was closed. So…no beer. I was then asked (very impolitely) to prove vaccination status which I gladly complied with. I then asked if I could have a business receipt and was told that I would get one in the morning via email. The attitude of this female was nothing short of dismissive, adversarial, denigrating and obtuse. She then left the hotel under the supervision of an even less impressive male. I got to my room and saw it was one of the smallest and dullest rooms ever.. the minibar was empty, there was a light hanging off the bed frame and the room stank of urine. I am not exaggerating at all. I asked the male supervisor if I could have the items for the minibar that I am entitled to…he shook his head and then walked to the kitchen and found some itemsfor the minibar, he was not happy at all. By about 0130 hours I could hear a buzzing noise in the room only to find out the room was full of crickets. One landed on my chest and bite me. I collected several of these quite large crickets and -laced them into a paper cup and then had a shower..I collected my belongings and left the room I informed the male member of staff what had occurred and showed him my collection of brown crickets in the cup. He said it is very normal to have crickets in your room in France! He then turned to walk to his little office. I asked him what time the manager came in and he said 0700. I then sat in the lobby for the night. . The manager arrived and I could see a conversation was being had between the two.The manager then walked straight passed me and checked on the breakfast setup for the morning. I introduced myself and asked him why he ignored me. He said that I should have asked for another room and not sat in the foyer all night! This was probably the worst and least empathic manager ever. I showed him the crickets, obtained a refund and left the hotel. HORRENDOUS HOTEL.AVOID. MERCURE,PLEASE REVIEW THIS HOTEL

I often go to the Mercure Charbonnières during my business trip to the West of Lyon. The hotel rooms are well renovated, the personnel is always nice and helpful and the breakfast is really good. It’s not a fancy neighborhood but if you need a quiet place and no hassle to get in and out… that’s the place!

Nice hotel, clean, good service, friendly English speaking staff. Especially recommend the breakfast. Small pans to make the own Omelette - really French living style. I only give 3 stars as location is outside city. Nearly nothing in walking distance. Unfortunately.
Did not receive the rooms we booked, beds were unclean and no assistance provided.

Travelled with my family to stay at the Mercure for one night in Lyon. My family had booked 2 rooms with double beds and one with twin beds. However, when we arrived we were only given 3 double bed rooms, and because "the cleaners had gone home for the day" my brother and I (who are both 6' tall) had to share one double bed. The beds themselves had very uncomfortable sheets and pillows, both of which smelled very bad. Overall a very unpleasant stay but to make it worse we have had no response after contacting the hotel manager for reimbursement. They replied to Denis353 below but do not believe them when they say "we make every effort to satisfy our customers" because they don't even respond to our emails.
