Luang Prabang, a picturesque temple town located close to the Mekong river, is home to many historic temples. This idyllic UNESCO world heritage site may not be the most obvious destination when you’re thinking of things to do in Laos with kids, but this wonderfully gentle place actually has many fun-filled activities for the whole family. 
A must-see attraction in Luang Prabang is the breathtaking Kuang Si Falls, buried within the lush tropical jungle. This is an expedition for older children as it does involve a walk toddlers may not manage. Don’t forget to pack swimwear: your kids will love taking a dip in the shallow pools that lead to the three-tiered giant waterfall. For a unique experience, check out the Tat Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre adjacent to the waterfalls — this bear sanctuary is home to moon bears rescued from poachers and exotic pet owners.
