I recently stayed here, selected it because we have stayed at so many Fairmonts from Playa del Carmen, DC, Del Mar, Austin and they never disappoint. However this one was horrible. I sustained an injury at the hotel caused by hotel bathroom layout that required a 5 night stay in the hospital. this meant my husband had to stay additional nights above what we booked. We were told the additional nights would be discounted they were minimally however the problem is we were double charged on two different credit cards one for the full itinerary with the additional days as the statement shows and another card was charged without explanation. I have repeatedly called and attempted to correct the issue without anyone calling me back. 5 voicemails multiple days.

I have travelled all over the world and have stayed at some of the best hotels. I thought we were going to have a great experience at the Fairmont but we were SORELY disappointed. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and frankly, we should have stayed someplace else.

We turned up after 23 hours of travelling. Got a rollicking for turning up so late even though it wasn’t our fault . Room was awful puddle of water greeted in doorway. No lights worked so we was completely in the dark. Kettle didn’t not work. No water in the room either. Then the most horrendous thing was when I tried to plug my phone in the socket between the beds disintegrated. Faulty towers eat your heart out

Excellent dining - Restaurant service & pool staff prompt and professional. I made my reservations directly with the hotel back in June. I reserved three (3) villas next to each other - The "Casa del Mar' and two villas with was confirmed by phone by the hotel. When I arrived I was told that the 3 villa's were not together. As the requested connecting villa would be for my son's family including my two granddaughter's I was insistent. It was worked out however my younger son and his wife wound up 3 villas down. That was accepted however this issue should not have occurred. Back in September I received an e-mail confirming my request for a Thanksgiving dinner reservation at the Meat Market. Thanksgiving Eve I checked with the restaurant and they had no knowledge of a reservation for 8 on Thanksgiving. It all worked out and we had a wonderful dinner (staff was spot on) however - again - this should never have occurred. While checking our bill during our stay there were a few charges that had to be explained / corrected. Looking at my pending bill there are 2 chargers (combined $207.00) over and above our final agreed upon closing account statement that will be questioned and needs explanation. The Casa del Mar is a beautiful villa and was perfect for my family to celebrate me and my wife's 40th anniversary. The kids loved your resort. My four year old daughter asked if we could move here. Close proximity to both the pool and beach was perfect. Apparently I am now a diamond member - I would like to speak to someone about the specifics as we are thinking of possibly returning for a 3rd visit. Hopefully with a smoother reservation set-up and a more accurate billing procedure.
